    Pros

The company has good benefits, great ETO benefits. It has nice proximity to Highlands Ranch. Most projects use the latest technologies and learning is encouraged.

    Cons

The student loan business is at the mercy of the Federal Government, which speaks for its self. The raises are pretty standard, but not great.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing the non student loan business. Keep a focus on the employee satisfaction initiatives and realize what has made 5280 solutions successful.

    Pros

Dress code, flexible hours (for the most part), location (minimal traffic compare to downtown or the Tech Center), decent break rooms.

    Cons

Leadership is a cliquish group that is clueless and thinks they are funny. Was told I could work from home when needed (even in the employment agreement) (that didn't work out). Anyone that was actually good, left. Oncall, enough said on that. Sometimes it felt like working at a frat house.

    Advice to Management

Shake it up (replace a few of your "key" folks. Bring back some degree of professionalism.

    Pros

Great Co-workers were great and collaborative. Working with the company for 8 years provided me with an opportunity to learn and develop and see considerable growth within the company.

    Cons

Work life balance was very difficult once reaching a management level.

The work environment was often clique, especially upper management. It felt like many people got recognized more for being well liked then working hard. Getting promotions with limited pay raise availability could leave you managing workers who made more money than you. Even large increases in responsibility would not be fully compensated for.

    Advice to Management

Bring in fresh eyes to try and develop fresh ideas.

I worked at 5280 Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed work environment that rewards success and hard work. Put in effort, be a champion for your customers, and stand for the right thing and you'll be rewarded

    Cons

Pay could have been better. Lack of pay was made up for with a really flexible work schedule (work from home, flexible hours, etc).

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture positive, keep rewarding great work, consider greater merit increases or incentive bonuses.

    I worked at 5280 Solutions full-time

    Pros

    Ability to work from home
Casual work environment (can wear shorts and sandals if desired)
Giving time and money to charities encouraged
Contractors love 5280 because workload can easily exceed 40 hours per week
    Lots of vacation days

    Cons

The time commitment expectations shift the 'ability to work from home' into the 'need to work from home' category
Easy to burnout due to the hero work culture
    Low morale among employees
The work is non-strategic and highly operational (which is perfectly fine - depending on your personality)

    Advice to Management

Create an organizational strategy for your people with the proper mix of visionaries, true managers, and highly skilled technical resources.
Get buy-in from lower ranked employees (include them more often - a substantial divide between leadership and everyone else can be felt)
Some of the strategic leaders also managed people. This can lead to frustration if the visionary leaders are also entrenched in people management. Identify individual strengths of leaders and cater to them so your leaders thrive.

    Pros

They offer great training almost as if it were free business school. If you show your strengths and effort you will get noticed and you will grow. Yes it's a lot of hard work. But hard work pays off if you are willing to set your preconceived notions on the shelf and open up a little, You never know what you can learn but also what you can teach others and be valued.

    Cons

Hours are intense. Lot's of time on your feet. Pay starts out small, but one you get it - pay is much better. This is not a 9-5 job, and no job is right for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Really keep up with valuing and building people, and cultivating opportunity.

I worked at 5280 Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    none I can think of,

    Cons

I moved to Denver at my own expense. I was working there for three days. Then fired because some one with my name was arrested in state I came from six years before i moved to that state. The company that did the background check corrected it, or told me they did, with in a day but I was still out

    Pros

Good ETO, flexible hours, able to work from home as much as you want (provided you're in the "in" crowd).

    Cons

Once you fall out of the "in" crowd you're doomed with no chance for parole. Mounds and mounds of paperwork to keep you busy.

    Advice to Management

Have fewer meetings and spend more time seeing what your people actually do.
