    Pros

Great Co-workers were great and collaborative. Working with the company for 8 years provided me with an opportunity to learn and develop and see considerable growth within the company.

    Cons

Work life balance was very difficult once reaching a management level.

The work environment was often clique, especially upper management. It felt like many people got recognized more for being well liked then working hard. Getting promotions with limited pay raise availability could leave you managing workers who made more money than you. Even large increases in responsibility would not be fully compensated for.

    Advice to Management

Bring in fresh eyes to try and develop fresh ideas.

I worked at 5280 Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Knowledge sharing and team building is encouraged. Lots of talented people. Frequent and open communication among team members and project manager.

    Cons

If you are not liked, some people go out of their way to make you miserable. I was not one of them, but I saw it happen to several people who never knew why they were targets.

I worked at 5280 Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, location/facilities and earned time off. Flexibility to work from home at times. Nice corporate structure and environment with perks like coffee and discounts.

    Cons

A lot of on-call shifts and horrible benefits. $2400 deductible! One of the worst benefits packages I've ever seen. Since your Earned Time Off accumulates, it'll take awhile before you feel like you can take some time off.

    Advice to Management

Look into establishing better benefits packages and hiring specialized individuals to handle on-call duties

I have been working at 5280 Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work from home policy is a very good part of the company. They seem to listen to the staff at the meetings. They are interested in a work-life balance.

    Cons

They have way too much red tape for their own good. Process slowdowns make getting things done frustrating. They overplay their profits, overplay their innovation and overplay their IT solutions. Most of their processes are based on their fear of change and lack of concrete controls to protect the systems.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to clean up your processes, controls and reduce the red-tape.

  6. "A good IT contracting company"

    Pros

Focused on Denver. Ethical and open on IT Contracting and opportunities. Benefits are good when you can get them. Still treat IT Contracting at an arms length.

    Cons

The organization is very focused on IT Contracting and Consulting. After an assignment is complete, you are basically on your own to find the next assigment. When typical of IT Contracting, I would have expected 5280 Solutions to offer additional options.

    Advice to Management

Consider focusing on career advancement options for the contractors and consultants working with the organization. Can the group collaborate together or work together based upon them being part of the same company?
