    Pros

    Outstanding company culture that starts with executive leadership. They value employee opinions and are committed to lead the UCaaS industry. 8X8 is committed to investing in top talent and providing the resources needed to win. It's nice to have found a great place to work!

    I have been working at 8x8 full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great work/life balance and environment
    - Rapidly expanding company with a good future
    - They care about your career growth (but could still improve)
    - Coworkers are friendly
    - Free lunch Wednesday and breakfast Friday

    Cons

    - Pay and benefits are average for the Bay Area
    - Not enough interaction between departments
    - Teams beside Engineering/Marketing don't get as much support or spotlight
    - Some managers are too traditional-minded and dislike change

    Advice to Management

    Other teams outside Engineering/Marketing deserve more recognition for the work that they do. Encourage people to be more open-minded to change. Actively looking out for employee's career growth would be a great plus.

    Pros

    - Great team of people
    - Incredible growth opportunity for the product
    - Work/life balance
    - Executive leadership is on the right track

    Cons

    - Benefits aren't great. My out of pocket cost almost doubled from my previous company. They need to improve that to be more competitive in bringing in top talent.

    I have been working at 8x8 full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    • CEO is transparent and accountable. His vision/strategy has been consistent.
    • Executive staff friendly and approachable, with open door policy.
    • Fun company culture.
    • Outstanding work/achievements consistently recognized (see Cons as well).
    • Company has made a commendable effort to bring in “new blood” to get different perspective on
            products and internal processes.

    Cons

    • Internal decisions such as moving SMB Sales and Finance outside of HQ made in
            haste and is nonsensical. Basically, an arm of the Company was cut off to better
            serve the other arm.
    • New CMO is the proverbial bull in china shop. She has quickly made numerous asks
            without regard to how it impacts other departments. A “me first” mentality, which
            contradicts CEO/CFO vision for company culture.
    • Same few departments every quarter are recognized for achievements. Marketing,
           which has historically under performed (spend vs. ROI), consistently gets recognized
           for simply doing their job (ex-set up one trade show).
    • HR has failed to get longer tenured managers in line with executive’s vision of how to
            treat and lead employees after promising to do so about a year ago.

    Advice to Management

    Raise the bar for Sales and Marketing to be more in line with Deployment and R&D. Rectify the fact that longer tenured managers use decades old/previous regime management style. Explicitly encourage cross department cooperation. Find a way to get people working and accomplishing goals without being locked up in meetings and conference rooms all day long, day after day.

    Clear direction and execution plan

    At times solid performers are not properly recognized

    At times decisions are made to meet financial goals that are not strategic

    Advice to Management

    Vending machines? Let's get with the rest of silicon valley and actually have a stocked break room. Need to spend more on company events, gifts, and employee recognition. Keep up the investment in modernizing tools.

    Pros

    Smart people with great energy and desire to get things done. Excellent product innovation and vision. Promoting tallent from within is key to the success and long term continuity of the shared vision. The management really cares about the product and gives recognition to the many people who are responsible for the success. 8x8 really cares about the customers and keeping them advocates and champions of the product. Profitable and debt free.

    Cons

    I think some people who have been with the company for a long time are making less than they could if they were hired today and should be rewarded for their dedication, commitment and knowledge of the companies products.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the culture of promoting from within an important value of the companies energy and spirit.

    Pros

    8x8 has accomplished so much with limited resources (less than competitors) and still manage to be considered one of the market leaders in the space. This is probably due to the significant number of hard working, talented and well natured employees that make up 8x8's ranks.

    Cons

    Often not enough resources to grow and outpace competitors. Folks are often jumping from one priority task to another. When everything is a priority, nothing is.

    Advice to Management

    Consider spending more on the Engineering departments so that we can get more done in less time.

    Pros

    People are smart, friendly and easy to work with in all departments across the org. Leadership is good and knows how to set a vision as well as communicate often. For example, the CEO often sends important updates and really knows how to align the team so we all are moving in the same direction. Pace is fast and people are heads down busy while having fun doing it. Free lunch on Wednesdays. Company is growing quickly and leadership is approachable.

    Cons

    In some cases, there should be a wfh policy in order to obtain good talent long term.
