I have been working at 9 Story Media Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Health insurance, if you're doing your quota you can manage your hours, great colleges, great environment, lots of room to learn more and more

    Cons

People complain about space, but I'm okay with that. Some of the shows are too simplistic and not very appealing, I'm glad I'm not at one of them, despite all that, to me work is work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, this company is SIIIIIIICK

    Cons

Salary often not on par with industry standards for executive roles. (sales, marketing, EA)

    Advice to Management

Offer a clear path for career growth. Offer competitive salaries.

I worked at 9 Story Media Group full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Casual dress environment. Employees are generally nice.

    Cons

Management and the senior level leadership are unclear on their own values - they say one thing and do another. No one seemed to take responsibility for their errors, everyone else was always to blame. Benefits were not great. Minimal vacation, unclear instructions on whether the company is open or closed during the holidays. Lots of frustration.

    Advice to Management

Be more interested in your employees, and less interested in your own personal agenda.

    Pros

it was pretty relaxed and the pay is good. the projects are not so interesting though.

    Cons

HR should be more aware of their employees strengths. They shouldn't have to constantly do a test to move onto a new show.

I have been working at 9 Story Media Group full-time

    Pros

    - Benefits. - Continuous work is good. - Location. Liberty Village is trendy and not so crowded like downtown.

    Cons

    - With no in-house developmet teams, theres no risk-taking in developing new and interesting content. - You have to beg for a raise (after so many years) - Atmosphere can seem too corporate.

    Advice to Management

    - Hire talent thats adequate for a show. (Involve artistic leads in this process) - Take more risks in developing unique in-house projects (not just follow trends) - Listen to the artists and their needs. Theyre the ones making the shows after all. - Encourage a more positive atmosphere and culture (games room, weekly food treats, larger communal eat-in area...etc....) Overall.. things are looking up!

I have been working at 9 Story Media Group for more than a year

    Pros

They are wise enough to keep the best animators in their back pockets.

    Cons

HR is very bad. Dominated by Women who are more interested in gossip and attention. Some Animation Leads have a very bad attitude. They can over-work you easily. Contract work is not as secure as before. Slowly sinking ship. Needs real leadership.

    Advice to Management

Needs real leadership. Lack of direction. Keep your best animators well fed and happy, they are worth a lot to you.

I have been working at 9 Story Media Group

    Pros

Best Animation studio to work in Toronto. Professional work culture. What is best is its culture to keep its employees. They believe in quality productions via keeping their employees employed over contracts. Maintaining a social and friendly environment within workplace. Salary is well. Overtime is well compensated. vacation time and benefits are ample. So is a flexible work culture.

    Cons

Not much. No toaster oven at workplace so no proper way to heat pizza slices. On a serious note. If you want to work on a particular position or a show you gotta ask. They wont provide it to you directly. You gotta show interest atleast a month or 2 prior to your current show ending.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing :) Would be nice if they could make an opportunity to hire people without an immigration status. Even if it doesnt help the studio.
