I worked at 99 Cents Only full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discount on already low prices

    Cons

Work life balance is terrible. Expect you to do unethical things to achieve results. Frozen food is very unsafe. Seen it sit out until thawed due to space constraints then stocked at a later time. Employees also will go through items like strawberries and pull the moldy ones then combine packages to save money. I was embarrassed to be a part of this organization

    Advice to Management

Follow food and safety regulations. Treat employees and management in a respectful way.

    Pros

You get a decent 10% discount on purchases

    Cons

-You will always get your yearly raise one week before the minimum wage get raised
-You will always be told to work outside your department since the store is always extremely understaffed.
    -Management is always disorganized.
-When offered a head cashier position and I declined since the raise was 70 cents.

    Pros

Get discounts but also its a great way to get experience in stocking fronting and at the register since they require stockers and Fronter to learn the register

    Cons

There is no set schedule it changes weekly u have to be cautious of the schedule change because you can have the same days for two weeks but then the third week it'll be completely different also you always have to call a 99 when u don't have change for 100$ because they don't let you have more than 2 twenties and they take their sweet time

    Advice to Management

Keep work employee concerns about the management and store especially of the ones who have been there for years

I worked at 99 Cents Only full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely lenient / relaxed work environment.

    Cons

CMO unaware of the unfair departmental favoritism amongst other graphic designers who do little to no work and contribute nothing to daily operations or company growth.

    Advice to Management

It is extremely unfair and belittling of employees who actually want to work for your organization to have to witness other graphic designers arrive to work in the middle of the day EVERYDAY, and leave early EVERYDAY. How is it possible that management allows this? How is it fair that a salaried employee works all of 4-5 hours a day and get paid as a full time employee does? Management is LACKING and needs to be revamped. This was one of the very things that sent me over the edge and ultimately left the organization to free lance.

    Cons

    Bad management.
    -Never scheduled people properly
    -Overworked employees
    -Inconsistent hours
    -

    Advice to Management

Improve, listen to your employees suggestions. They give warnings even with a doctor's note.
