    I worked at 99 Cents Only part-time

    Pros

My coworkers made the job fun and kept it from being monotonous . The schedule was super flexible and honesty if you worked enough and well it showed that you could progress and get promotions so that was always nice.

    Cons

It seemed like higher up in the company there's issues. Everyone at the store I worked at, including myself, had issues receiving their first paychecks. I pretty much had to call their offices nonstop until i could fix the issue and actually get paid. It was weird that an issue like this was only treated seriously by associates that had the same problem and i had to go out of my way to make sure i was being paid.

    Advice to Management

Make sure people are getting their paychecks because mine was being transferred to some account that had numbers completely different from mine and it took me over a month to finally get paid.

    I worked at 99 Cents Only part-time

    Pros

    easy job, great customers, hours

    Cons

once you leave can't get rehired even if seasonal employee

    Advice to Management

consider hiring people back that really cared about the company instead of hiring people weekly, wasting time training them only to do it again 2 weeks later, need people who really care. Upper Management also needs to be more approachable, listen to your employees because they are the ones making customers come back.

I worked at 99 Cents Only full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My main position was a cashier. However, when you work the closing shift duties include cleaning and restocking go backs. One of my favorite things about working here was mine regular customers. They always made me smile, laugh and compliment me on my speedy and pleasant customer service. Another pro is that the store is constantly busy so it makes the day go by faster. Most of my co workers were pleasant to work with.

    Cons

While I worked there the biggest con of this employer is that the employees are treated poorly. They do not seem to value their employees. They do not have employee meetings to ensure that all employees are informed of new policies and such. There was even a time all the stores in my city had a competition of who can sell the most sunglasses. Well, our store won and I was one of the top sellers! We were supposed to get a catered lunch at work. Needless to say it did not happen! However, the Manager and Asst Mgrs got there monetary prize! When it was US the employees who did most of the work! So after I left due to pregnancy I decided to not to go back because of the way the employees are treated.

    Advice to Management

My advice to Management would be to implement employee meetings. I think this would be beneficial to the crew as a whole because then you will know everyone is aware and informed of the new policy, rule, or whatever it may be that all employees should know. Instead of just having them sign a paper stating that they were informed, watched a video or whatever when that is not the truth. I was always so surprised that they were getting away with that. You want to have happy employees and everyone on the same page!
