    Pros

    The culture even though it seems to have declined as of recent. You cannot just tell people the culture is good you must prove it. Julian is the best man for the job, but not sure he can even save this now.

    Cons

    Zero work/life balance....you can "take" a vacation but you will never truly be on one. Might as well be a brain surgeon b/c you are always ON. More than a few think they can drive results by intimidation and threats. Not sure how you will keep convincing people to come work here after you push the loyal ones out.

    Advice to Management

    Be careful what you wish for

    I have been working at Aéropostale full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    If you are well-liked, you will move up the ranks quickly.

    Decent vacation/holiday times.

    Better work life balance than most other corporate retail offices.

    Cons

    Aero plays the favorites game.

    There is no formal job training here, so make sure you have a merchandising background. No one wants to set you up for success here. Instead of helping you out, they like to tell you everything you are doing wrong without showing you how to do it right.

    There have been layoffs and the teams are very short staffed.

    The company is not doing well financially.

    Advice to Management

    Start a formal job training program. Listen to all employees, not just the ones you favor. Allow more mobility.

    Pros

    Within manhattan, as compared to queens or brooklyn, there are reasonable wages. There is also usually acceptable treatment from superiors and good management that results in fluid movement between positions at a well structured store

    Cons

    long after-hours when closing; there were times I spent 4 hours past closing just cleaning up the mess that the patrons created throughout the day. I was not paid for this after-hours work.

    Advice to Management

    Do not squeeze as much work out of your employees as you can, and not even pay them for it. The after-hours clean up was horrid as I was not getting paid for it and I was also being threatened of being fired if I didn't do it.

    Great discounts on clothing, kind co-workers.

    Cons

    Dirty workplace, Last minute scheduling of hours, Low payrate

    Advice to Management

    Keep a more organized schedule, and notify employees in advance when they are to be placed on a new shift, or removed from a shift.

    nice office, location, break room

    Cons

    Management has power issues, .ie.- they believe assistants should bet talked down to and treated as children, not peers or adults.

    Take a bite of humble pie and appreciate those whom work for you.,

    Pros

    Great employees with great training.

    Cons

    Long hours, poor pay, all full time is salaried and makes just as much a year as a server sometimes less. Management has no communication and no direction.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees and your employees will invest in you!

    Managers are cool. Very friendly and willing to help.

    They do play favorites so hours were competitive.

    Fun environment, helpful leadership team, acceptable opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

    Pay poor, worked like a full time even though no benefits.

    Advice to Management

    Higher enough and the right managers 100% turnover in a year is unacceptable, pay lower level employees better. Make sales Leads (entry level management) full time because the way we are scheduled causes us to not be able to plan anything
