    Pros

The company culture and atmosphere was unmatched; collaborative teams, respectful executives, great HR presence; creativity and drive were highly valued

    Cons

The perma-lance program kept freelancers on as full-time employees without providing necessary benefits which made it difficult to retain talent due to individuals' needs for insurance and job security

    Advice to Management

Ban the perma-lance program and continue cultivating a professional atmosphere of creativity, collaboration and unilateral respect

I worked at A+E Networks (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The crew is very professional and kind. They were all a joy to work with.
It was in 2008, but I couldn't put a date that far back under option.

    Cons

With no AC in the intervention room you don't know if it's sweat or tears running down your face. Actually it's both. Not a dry eye in the room during the interventions. Not a con. Just a fact.

    Advice to Management

You guys/gals are killin it. Keep it up!

    Pros

Incredible summer learning at A+E. They have a fantastic internship program set up in NYC and the people were great. They really value their interns and give them real projects to work on and learn from

    Cons

Wish the internship had continued through the month of August

    Cons

Delegating work to others could use improvement.

I have been working at A+E Networks as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy location, friendly co-workers, short shifts. They encourage EVERYONE, including freelancers to pitch ideas. They support personal projects, the tech and hardware are well maintained and pretty solid.

    Cons

The IT department is a little impenetrable which makes simple things like getting email or downloading files into a longer than usual process. The freelancer turnover is low, so it's hard to bring in new people. The staff has been shaken up several times in the last few years which does not give people much confidence. Lower than average day rate.

    Advice to Management

Restructuring needs to be done in a more gradual and less traumatic fashion to encourage staff committment. Encourage freelancers to become full time so that we aren't always losing our intellectual assets.

The internship program at A+E is absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a fantastic opportunity to learn in a great office environment, I would highly recommend applying to intern at A+E networks. Their lunch and learn program provides an incredible opportunity to learn from different departments within A+E.

I worked at A+E Networks as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great corporate culture; everybody works hard but also really looks out for one another. The company also really values promoting from within. Case in point: chairman Abbe Raven started off at the company as a production assistant.

    Cons

Not much to complain about really. I was just an intern at the time, but I did notice that people worked hard and quite a few would always stay late. So perhaps one thing to improve upon is work-life balance? Up the head count when necessary.

    Advice to Management

Just minor details to improve upon. For example, cater to employees with a cafeteria in-house?
