I worked at A+E Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice workers who work hard. They do their best to please management in order to help improve the company's ratings. Management puts the blame on the workers. The workers are very friendly and they get together outside of working hours to socialize together.

    Cons

The executive management staff was awful. They put all of the blame on the workers. Reports to management of mistreatment are treated as unheard.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of old management and hire new management. That's the only way to turn things around.

I worked at A+E Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people that work for A+E Networks are dedicated, hardworking and creative. They are not just there for a job but really want their networks succeed. Management also rewards creativity and taking chances, even if they do not lead to a win. It is a great environment for risk takers.

    Cons

Management also takes a lot of chances and thus the organization is constantly changing. Staff at all levels are moved around, branding shifts as needed and you are likely to change offices about once a year. Also, due to the industry struggles, there is lot of competition between networks within the company and programming and other resources are sometimes fiercely fought over.

    Advice to Management

Be honest about company priorities. Do not claim to want to invest in a new ventures to then turn around and strip them of resources to help the established ones. It just wastes everyone's time to play those games

    I worked at A+E Networks full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible work hours. Lots of company gatherings.

    Cons

The company is very top heavy. Everyone is a damn VP and in their own cliques. If you don't know the right people, your career will go nowhere

    Advice to Management

Management is a joke. half of them don't know what they are doing.

    Cons

    - Processes can slow recruitment down
    - Lower salaries compared to competitors
    - Internal opportunities are mostly secondments (have to move back to original position after a while)

    Advice to Management

+ Make sure the salary benchmarks are updated and actually competitive, otherwise you may loose great people.
+ Promote more from within & then train/develop any gaps.

... Apart from the above ... Keep doing what you're doing! :)

I have been working at A+E Networks (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It has a flexible working environment and there's a lack of political game playing compared to other companies I have worked at.

    Cons

They have agile working in the London office which is not suited to everyone or every department. Also not known for paying well compared to other media companies.
