    I worked at A.G. Edwards & Sons full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a very team oriented company, helpful during and after the new learning curve time. They offered a wonderful training program.

    Cons

Other than the company being bought out, I can't say anything negative, or downsides to the Company. They were great. They Company, and the staff.

    Advice to Management

Upper management was just as great in helping they employees and staff, recognizing and praising them for jobs well done.

    I worked at A.G. Edwards & Sons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great training, wonderful people, it was a good experience starting a book from scratch at this employer.

    Cons

Hard to start a book from scratch. The people I was working with were wonderful though and I enjoyed working there. Selling the business 2x in 2 years was a tough transition for people and much of the corporate culture was lost in the transitions. Overall likely a good move for people with equity though.

    Advice to Management

    Should have stayed independent

    Pros

Nice office, good support from staff. Almost no mentoring beyond corporate training.

    Cons

Wanted a 6-12 month mentoring experience working hand-in-hand for another experienced broker; was not made available after training

    Advice to Management

add mentoring after training - better yet, on the job training to improve the ROI in investing in new brokers

    Pros

Get to work with important clientel and are exposed to a wide spectrum of the market. The work you do is rewarding because of the importance placed on the public sector.

    Cons

Not too many cons come to mind. I only worked for 4 months for an internship, but I was happy with my experience and never complained about the opportunity.

    Advice to Management

I enjoyed the small office environment and the fact that I had my own office. I would say a good overall job.

    Pros

They stayed off your back and didn't tell you what funds to push.

    Cons

AGE was technologically behind the times.

    Advice to Management

You shouldn't have sold AGE out to Wachovia.
