    I worked at A.M. Best full-time

    Pros

Outwardly the company appears professional and legit. Inside on the surface things also seem fine. They have a nice campus in a nice location. There are many nice people there, maybe even some smart people there but they are underutilized.

    Cons

Beware the pretty facade is just that. While many people have described the atmosphere at the company as "Old Fashioned" or "1950's" this is actually not the case. Once inside and past all the pleasantries you will find that most managers there are "yes" people. This is because they are afraid to question anything do to the environment within the company culture. Indeed witch hunts are common as are "false" charges, followed by dismissal. If you find yourself on "the radar" the HR department will hunt you down, search your phone calls, emails, internet usage in order to find any reason they can dismiss you. It doesn't matter much what your results are if they decide you are on the radar, thats it. All this while others, lodged there for years have no real results other than the ability to say yes to everything on command.

    I worked at A.M. Best full-time

    Pros

Ample vacation time, good work-life balance, delayed openings/early closures/office closed for inclement weather, ability to work remotely on a regular basis, some good, hard-working people in the rank and file, easy commute from Pennsylvania on Route 78 and within central New Jersey, pretty good dental and vision plans, adequate 401(k).

    Cons

Absolutely inadequate salaries, no raises, mediocre medical benefits, no bonuses, no opportunity for advancement, antiquated and dictatorial policies, ridiculously old-fashioned dress code (for example, women wearing sandals must have pedicures, and hair and beard styles must be "normal", way too many layers of management more interested in perpetuating the status quo than actually moving forward, not enough people doing the actual work, tendency at all levels of management to focus on unimportant things and ignore issues that need attention, no microwaves or refrigerators, no true flex time, unshaded outdoor parking, resistance to upgrading technology and office furniture, poor air quality in building (dust and mold), lackluster cleaning of work spaces (dust, old stained carpeting), dispirited employee morale, plenty of criticism but no appreciation of hard work and good ideas in any meaningful way.
