    Pros

Ability to grow if you have the right degree or background

    Cons

Lack of communication to employees. Promotes people without degrees to higher positions, and those with degrees get stuck in a rut.

    Advice to Management

Communicate to employees, especially long term employees. Find a way to raise the pay of those, who have been in positions for a while, and have done a good job in those positions.

I have been working at A. O. Smith as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

A.O. Smith is a great place to intern and work. Given A.O. Smith's long history, 140 years, the company has remained quite nibble in regards to moving into new market areas. Who would have thought that a company that started out making bike & car frames would end up being a world leader in water heater and fresh water technology? Outside of the willingness to move into new markets, A.O. Smith treats it's employees well. Despite being an 11,000 employee company, you get treated like a real person, not just another "cog in the machine". The environment is also enjoyable. Individuals who get hired on at A.O. Smith tend to stay with the company for their entire career.

    Cons

No real "end goal" or "performance evaluation" provided for interns.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.
