    I worked at A4e full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues and a level of trust conferred on employees.
Multi-site and stakeholder partner enabling options for re-location and opportunities

    Cons

Health and safety considerations for staff bearing in mind the profiles of some service users was quite poor i.e. no security staff at most centres.
The estates function was bureaucratic and cumbersome, moving or requesting assets and furniture was bogged down with long drawn out processes which meant a lot of money wasted.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff on the ground. I suppose it wont matter now as this company was bought by People Plus. however, the same advice should still hold dear.

  3. "Influencing is the main focus"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    Pros

Salaries can be quite high if your face fits and you can progress quickly. There are usually good opportunities to travel and also to take on new responsibilities.

    Cons

Very political organisation. You need to be a good influencer to get on.
Staff do not usually get access to proper training opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Need to focus more on developing the skills and abilities of your staff, less on perpetuating the overarching influencing culture.

    Pros

An excellent business which promoted empathy compassion and social cohesion. There were many benefits gained from this business for individuals, businesses and communities.

    Cons

restricted by a lack of vision from within the customer and other stakeholders as well as with certainelements of the management structure.

    Advice to Management

To work more closely with stakeholders to develop effective strategies to support participants into work.

    Pros

As a Trainer I was provided with on-going training and career development which I welcomed.
In addition to this I was allowed to develop and tailor the training programme to the needs of the learners.

    Cons

On one occasion I was required to carry out training in a shared space were advisors were also based. This meant that using certain resources and undertaking some activities were prohibited. Thirdly it meant that both group of clients were distracted on occasions.

    Advice to Management

Maintain high standard of training and development and on-going support. Ensure environments fit for purpose.

    I worked at A4e full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Great staff , some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
    *Reasonable salary and annual leave.
    *Decent career progression.
    *Locality of branches.

    Cons

*The industry as a whole is extremely tiresome.
*High targets with constant pressure applied by management.
*Often dealing with highly sensitive issues such as mental health with little training.
    *Confrontational customers and abuse.

    Advice to Management

Be more realistic with targets and be appreciative of staff who have to juggle multiple areas of work.

    Pros

Best thing they did making a lot of people redundant as im sure most of them will now realise. (Apologies if you are still struggling to find another job). The job was rubbish, the director of our floor was rubbish. Hopefully people have found a job that pays better and appreciates staff more. The team leader that started Tom was a breath of fresh air to that place. Certainly made a difference to the projects team.

    Cons

Some poor workers with bad attitudes that needed the boot especially gabber freaks. Another who was stuck up and not very good at her job yet expected everything handing to her on a plate. The staff needed a shuffle and the lazy ones with bad attitudes needed letting go. Maybe with this performance would have improved and the dump would have stayed open....who knows???

    Advice to Management

Stop lads wearing make up. Also stop the lasses wiping excrement on the toilet cubicle walls!!! (Serious)

    I worked at A4e full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked with some of the most dedicated professionals I've ever worked with who really care about helping their customers.

    Cons

Micro management gone crazy. Redundancies every other week. Insane targets. All staff pretty much on a PIP and totally demoralised. No resources to offer customers. Lots and lots of layers of inefficient, incapable "management" who quite frankly havent got a clue what they are doing and are just ticking boxes to appease the powers that be. This is clearly not welfare but the worst type of "bums on seats" recruitment.

    Advice to Management

Have some respect and appreciation for your staff who work under constant pressure, with often difficult, aggressive and violent customers. Look at the health and safety aspect when decimating office staff through redundancies as you are leaving colleagues working in potentially dangerous situations with some customers who have serious mental health issues.

I have been working at A4e full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good to work for when a4e, yes there were issues and mistakes were made but there were also a lot of successes, staff cared, worked hard and did the best they could with very little investment.

    Cons

Staffline buying the business and creating peopleplus! No real staff engagement from the new board, promised so much but let go of so many talented people within 6 months

    Advice to Management

Show your staff a bit of respect
