      Wonderful work culture

      Pros

My former co-workers were very goal oriented. We came together to accomplish our common and individual goals. If you needed help or were able to give help, both were present at all times. Our department leads were involved and very hands-on.

      Cons

There was a disconnect between the overhead and the shop floor. Sometimes it jeopardized the ability to be as productive as possible. Communication is key in an assembly process. There is a trickle-down effect, that can change the entire outcome and efficiency.

      Pros

Large company, cutting edge technology. Dominant in the industry at what they do. Multiple business units for growth

      Cons

To many layers of management. Management on top of management on top of management. All about cya and very little performance excellence.

      Pros

For the area, the pay was phenomenally good, but this may have been a carryover from the Reliance/Baldor days. The local team, my supervisor, the plant manager, and many of our engineers were some of the best that I've ever had the pleasure of working with.

      Cons

After ABB purchased Baldor (our facility manufactured custom 300hp+ Reliance motors) they spent quite a bit of money on two local facilities, only to shut them down 3 years later. Rather than continue to manufacture a good reliable motor that our customers loved that continues to make a profit, they decided that due to the change in political climate, that they would sell a cheaper alternative built overseas for a higher profit return. Be wary if ABB buys the company you work for, they're in the business of buying out competition, shutting it down, and then selling junk back in its place.

      Pros

Great work culture Not too demanding (good work-life balance)

      Cons

Non-competitive pay (depending on location) Few women in upper-management roles: it's been a "boys club" for so long that it's difficult/not worth it for women to be included in the culture

      Pros

Pay structure is fair for the work.

      Cons

Sadly, my currently location is closing very soon. There is no plan to continue the API motor business, which is a huge loss for the market.
