    I worked at ABB full-time

    Pros

    It is a big company

    Cons

They hire unqualified "yes" people in Management positions without actual hands on experience or "bad" people managers. Company does not pay competitive wages.

    Advice to Management

Top heavy overpaid chiefs and underpaid doers. No real direction. It is only about choppin up small companies and outsourcing the business units.

I worked at ABB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No Pros to speak of working at that place was a living hell and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying.

    Cons

Long work hours/weeks I worked there for a few years and it consisted of "mandatory 58 hours" a week even when the workload didn't support it. Was told by a manager that I could sweep the floors all day when we didn't have work if you didn't work 10 hours a day Monday thru Friday and 8 hours on Saturday they'd threaten to write you up. Then they'd come around and ask for volunteers for Sunday. "Hot" units were brought to your attention a day before they were scheduled to ship. Management didn't know anything about what went on after they left they would rely on other workers to tell them. All in all it isn't worth the hours they make you work. Annnddd we were required to test units using up to 480v when we weren't even certified they never bothered. If you don't suck up to your manager and team lead you don't get a raise at all. There are workers there that have been there 10+ years faithfully and they're not even at top pay.

    Advice to Management

Show and act like you actually care about your workers.

I worked at ABB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are good.

    Cons

Mismanagement from very top down to middle management impacts business and eventually the employees pay a heavy price. Examples, whenever someone left the firm in Phoenix, their tasks were piled onto remaining staff, which was already clearly overburdened; customers were left waiting for service or parts replacement for years, in some cases; H1B staff were paid less than going labor market rates (which is illegal). Due diligence and compliance are also weak. Hence, large stock holders are pressuring board to reform. See Activist investor Cevian Capital AB. Yet, instead of resolving these issues, ABB reduces costs by laying off hundreds of highly skilled, high-performing employees, and keeps the leaders responsible for bad decisions.

I worked at ABB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Annual salary increases, flexible work schedule, annual bonus.

    Cons

Constant change. Management cannot decide on direction. Moved jobs then moved them back less than a year later. No strong leadership. Under qualified leaders. Current management concerned less with what is best for the company and more about how to forward their own careers.

    Advice to Management

Hire employees who are qualified for the position. Hire managers with vision for the future, not just to clean up problems from the past mistakes.

stop defending the company and defend your employees

I worked at ABB (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great manager to work with for the most part. Salary was comparable to the industry.

    Cons

Constant change allows for no tracking and grasping of want upper management really wants. No real direction, just ideas of what they THINK would work. Not a good morale builder for newer employees.

    Advice to Management

Get your ideas in order before you implement major changes/
