I worked at ABC 4 News part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great staff, if you make friends Ability to steep yourself in the real news world Make and break stories with flexibility from management

    Cons

Consistent low viewership ends up in new management, new owners every year or so. The company who bought the ownership while I worked there fired almost the entire staff the week before Christmas--no staff loyalty--only about views and dollars.

    Advice to Management

    Get to know the staff

    Positive Outlook

I worked at ABC 4 News

    Pros

Many of the people were awesome. The station and sets were great. It was a good location and tons of cool opportunities.

    Cons

Hours and Pay weren't very good. Lots of turn over and people getting burnt out. Not a ton of room for growth with all the turn over.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people. Give them opportunities to grow and become. Don't hire dumb people!

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at ABC 4 News full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get a lot of experience with a variety of situations and roles.

    Cons

Salary typically low and leads to revolving door nature of low to mid market news stations.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your people and make them feel valued and important. Don't make everything about the budget bottom line at the expense of your most valuable resource - human resources.
