I have been working at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Four day work week. 401K match.

    Cons

Low pay. They focus more on their bonus system than they do on pay scale. In the warehouse expect about a $0.20 raise every year. Working here you'll either need to be married or have roommates to afford your own place. Long hours and hard work with low pay. There's room for advancement but the pay increase is still very low. Inexperienced management with poor people skills....

    Advice to Management

Quit Focusing on your bonus system and give hard-working people the pay increases that they deserve for performance. Creating hostility between employees to win bonuses in an unfair system just makes your employees give up and affects everyone's performance. It's not working.

I worked at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits full-time for more than a year

    Pros

good medical coverage, more earning potential based on your ability to sell, you can move up quickly if you show initiative, a lot of great training on products and job

    Cons

very long hours, minimal pay, a lot of hard labor, centralized purchasing,

    Advice to Management

if you want quality managers (employees in general) you'll need to pay them more, especially if they are salary and putting in 60+ hours a week

I worked at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits full-time

    Pros

Some really nice people as teammates. Occasional classes.

    Cons

Long hours. Heavy lifting. Low pay. Management is all family. They have private jets. Employees get a few dollars above poverty wages.

    Advice to Management

Stand for something bigger than low prices. If "celebration" is really the flag you salute, then walk the talk for your employees. Make it fun for your people to work there. Employees will work for low wages if they see your slogan as something more than advertising. It's not mgmt fault that consumers care mainly about prices. Mgmt can't change that. But they can change the culture to be one that makes both employees...

I worked at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits

    Pros

great people to work with and management experience, decent benefits

    Cons

long hours with minimal salary pay, promotions are few and far between, lots of micromanagement without a lot of support on daily operations, corporate wants to control every aspect through central purchasing with a lot of wasted product because they don't understand local market, want to hire college educated individuals to manage but pay under poverty level

    Advice to Management

You want quality people, you have to pay for it. Promoting wine is a very profitable business but understand that those profits need to trickle down better to the employees. Don't work people to death and not understand when turnover is high

I have been working at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Four day work week for warehouse employees. I'm supposed to have 20 words here. Can't think of another Pro to working at the distribution center.

    Cons

CHEAP, CHEAP CHEAP.....You'll have to work here 5 years to get a $1 raise. 20 cents per year raises....and that's if you work really hard. Over worked. The production side of the warehouse works Sun-Wed. Sometimes 16-18 hours per day. You work every holiday. Long hours away from your family with no compensation. They do not invest in their employees. Attitude is that they can...

I worked at ABC Fine Wine and Spirits full-time

    Pros

Stores are endlessly busy. You will have plenty of customers to interact with. You will be required to attend classes to learn about liquor and wine. Employees are paid weekly, though at wages well below industry standards).

    Cons

This is honest! Please protect your family and your career and avoid this company! Low, non-competitive pay, barely above minimum wage, negligible annual raises if any at all, very long hours, high (often unreasonable) demands, high employee turnover rate, frequently called/forced to come in on days off due to understaffing problem. Do not involve yourself with this company if...

    Advice to Management

Recognize that the people who are in your stores are the people who build the company; your employees are the backbone, and they deserve a return on their loyalty and the simple courtesies of honesty and respect. Authority is a responsibility and should be treated with care as such, to provide support and aid for your employees and consideration for the families of your employees as well. A worker is worthy of his wages,...
