I worked at ABC News as an intern

    Pros

    - Treated with respect by full time co-workers.
    - Paid internship.
    - Minimal intern-y tasks like getting coffee or making lunch runs.
    - Opportunity to learn ins and outs of your department.
    - They'll occasionally have speaker sessions for interns. Got to attend a very intimate Q & A with Martha Raddatz.

    Cons

    - Not many negatives directly related to ABC News. If you're in DC just remember that the public transit is notorious for being slow so always give yourself plenty of time to get to work :)

I have been working at ABC News (Less than a year)

    Pros

You're a part of a buzzy network culture and can pick up a lot of skills.

    Cons

Intern duties are inconsistent-- you need to seek out work if you'd like to learn.

    Advice to Management

Organize intern program a little better.

I worked at ABC News as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some great role models here -- top of their field, and they're all surprisingly accessible. It's definitely what you make of it -- if you put yourself out there and prove yourself, then you can definitely get more responsibility.

    Cons

Lots of egos -- especially among the older male generation (ie. be prepared for some latent sexual harassment). DC office gets eerily quiet at times -- the work has definitely switched over to NYC.

    Advice to Management

    Keep egos in check.

I worked at ABC News full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This employer provided many years of union represented employment. Was able to be present at many important events during 70s, 80s and 90s.

    Cons

Due to the contentious relationship between the company and the union, very little encouragement and advancement was available.

    Advice to Management

It must be difficult to produce the quality of past years with the staff of freelancers. Although they may be talented, they have no loyalty and pride in the product or company.
