I worked at ABC Television part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities. Great mentors. Room to grow. Chance to travel. Great location for commuting and places to eat day and night.

    Cons

Long hours and days. It will take forever to advance enough to be worth it in the long run. Need sleep.

    Advice to Management

Please hire more employees to cover the massive amount of work that needs to be completed (on time). Listen to suggestions.

I worked at ABC Television full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big show name looks good on your resume. It's considered steady work for production when you work two seasons a year, You get to meet tons of people in other departments, free catered food on show days! You can befriend celebs if you care about that sort of stuff!

    Cons

Lots of people fail up, very thankless job, mostly get hired on as a freelance so no benefits no time for a social life unless you just hang out with coworkers, everyone is nice to you until you don't work there anymore and then you no longer exist. Six day work weeks leaving your days off to do laundry.

    Advice to Management

There are more bad employees than good these days and a lot of the bad/lazy are mostly there because they were "must hires" whereas you have people who have been working there way longer and know how things work who just get stepped on daily. Try talking to a PA who's been there for four seasons on how they feel about a new super green story assistant who was just handed the job.

    Pros

People not on management level were very knowledgable, helpful, learned a lot from observing

    Cons

Boss not present, hateful towards women, lots of sexual harassment

    Advice to Management

Was let go so my boss could hire a family member. Was working 10-12 hours a day with no overtime or benefits. Was doing jobs that are usually done by someone in the union who gets paid $50+ an hour like rendering scenery, not general assistant work.
