I have been working at ABC Unified School District part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is great if you are looking for part time work. Working with students has been life changing. They have a lot of different positions.

    Cons

They don't have benefits for para educators. There are no bonuses, and it can be hard to make ends meet and find assignments.

I have been working at ABC Unified School District part-time

    Pros

Good money for college students ($14.84 an hour), sometimes you can work with your supervisor to work when you can, possibility to have great co workers.

    Cons

Not all supervisors are easy to work with, depending on the students you work with it can be extremely stressful, sometimes you work in departments where you should be paid better, there is no certainty on job positions.

    Advice to Management

Some para jobs should be turned into assistant jobs and get paid full time. Supervisors don't benefit from changing paras specially when it comes to working with sensitive material.

    Pros

Coworkers are all friendly, so are the students
Set schedule, not really subject to change
Very flexible with schedule, as I was a student worker

    Cons

Not many opportunities for advancement, and working can get pretty tedious at times. Not consistent work pace, at times it is very busy and others there is nothing to do
    Environment can be loud sometimes

    Advice to Management

Be a little more considerate of workers, positive reinforcement rather than negative

    Pros

The job is pretty simple. The hours are flexible and you get paid more than minimum wage. Six hour shifts.

    Cons

Works better if you're full time, but even if you're full time, you only get 30 hours a week. Sometimes your kid doesn't come in and you don't get paid.

    Advice to Management

The call system kind of sucks. Management could also do a better job explaining what exactly a paraeducator does. Paper time sheets also kind of suck.

I worked at ABC Unified School District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A diverse staff and student population. Schools are nice and in good repair. Students and families are involved with school activities.

    Cons

Pay scales is low for area cost of living. Essentially one of the lowest pay scales for the region. Especially, rates of pay for special education providers and related services.

    Advice to Management

    Rethink special education and stipends

I have been working at ABC Unified School District part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Who doesn't love a Monday through Friday job. The work day is done early and you don't work wacky hours. Staff is off all holidays.

    Cons

After being at the company for almost 8 years, employees don't get offered a permanent position and those few permanent employees are only offered 3.5 hours a day, with no benefits. All assignments are temporary and summer work is not guaranteed.

    Advice to Management

There is a lot picking and choosing from Management and not equal opportunity.
