I worked at ABF Freight full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay, great healthcare, and job security.

    Cons

Schedule is always changing due to re bidding and union seniority system. 24/7 operation in Atlanta,Ga so work hours are varied. The terminal management is going through changes, which puts workers at the companies mercy. Believe it or not them being union is a con, the company/employees could excel without the restriction of a union shop.

I worked at ABF Freight full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Pay and Benefits. Management Colleagues are nice to work with. Most Drivers/Dock Employees are good people and work hard for you. Not very nit-picky about some work rules/policies. More laid back than other companies (can be good to a degree) I have spoken to employees at other terminals and Linehaul drivers, very nice people.

    Cons

Terminal management is afraid of upper management and Union employees. A handful of Union employees are like a Cancer at the Detroit Terminal. Hence the saying, " a few bad apples spoil the bunch". They can create a very poor work environment. Terminal Service Manager(s) seem too young and inexperienced to deal with a larger terminal such as Detroit. Bad communication. Excessive terminal slow down when other LTL companies are thriving; no explanation from upper management.

I have been working at ABF Freight full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

great pay, great experience, opportunity to learn.

    Cons

Union, managing these guys can be like pulling teeth. They are the most childish and protected people who think they are entitled to something. The work is high stress and expect to work 12-14 hours constantly with no lunch, break or even a minute to urinate

I have been working at ABF Freight

    Pros

Good but not great pay, better than great benefits. Room for advancement. Very professional work environment.

    Cons

Questionable decisions on the part of the current leadership. Recent layoffs, cuts in potential pay and lack of transparency with regards to these changes.
