    Helping the lost and hurting in our community, when possible.

    Executive management doesn't care or know what is going on at the employee level.

    Go to work and learn what you are supposed to supervise.

    Pros

    State health benefit plan, paid holidays, free training.

    Cons

    Very low salary for the work, large caseloads, irregular hours, no direction from management. Vehicles were old and falling apart.

    Advice to Management

    Provide more resources for staff to do their jobs.

    I worked at ABHS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Some of the people that worked here were very helpful and supportive, but others were awful to work with and had negative attitudes that impacted clients.

    Cons

    High or unrealistic expectations: Had a 12 hour graveyard shift with only me and one other person monitoring the entire male side of the facility (over 100 clients) and had to spend an hour handing out medications while simultaneously keeping track of the breakfast line while simultaneously documenting any incidents while simultaneously performing headcounts while simultaneously training new employees. And if anything was not completed, the next shift or management would talk down to you like a child. Management was also not willing to work with employee's schedules especially when asking for time off. There was also an uncaring attitude with management and counselors, and the clients didn't really get much from the program. Also, lots of inconsistency with rule violations outcomes.

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees better, work with their schedules, communicate better, actually care for the clients instead of looking for a paycheck.

    It's a great place to work. Staff and clientele are phenomenal. It's a very rewarding area of work to be a part of.

    Cons

    The pay scale is at a very bare minimum. Not shown to be a great company in terms of chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Management should have a more clear understanding of how new policies are going to be inflicted and the result of them.

    I worked at ABHS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    This was one of my all-time favorite jobs during my varied and extensive work history. The direct supervisors that I worked with were those who were in the field because they loved it, and would never ask me to do anything that they weren't willing to do themselves. They were very supportive, listened to my concerns and ideas, and worked to make things a little better and easier for me when necessary. I never felt that they put me in harms way. If there was a situation that seemed questionable going on with one of the clients, they were always willing to attend a visit with me to ensure everything was alright. The job itself was demanding, but very rewarding. The direct staff I worked along beside were helpful and suppoertive as well and some still remain friends. The clients I worked with came from a variety of different backgrounds and aere still in my thoughts daily!

    Cons

    Extensive amounts of paperwork! Company moto: "If it's not properly documented, it didn't happen!"

    Advice to Management

    To upper management who doesn't work directly with a person that you have to determine if they stay or have to go based on an incident, PLEASE listen to their direct supervisor and look at their prior work history. If their supervisor speaks favorably of them and thinks the incident can be worked through, and if their prior work history shows an honest, hard-working individual, try to get to the root of the problem and help that individual. Don't just let someone go when they have, and would've continued to be a valuable assett to the company. There are usually underlying problems which lead to job infractions. Especially when there have been no major problems with that employee in the past.

    Management does not listen to staff unless you're part of the clique

    Experience and patients, hours, type of work was very interesting and learned a whole lot each and every day. Some great coworkers!
