I worked at ABM Security Services (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay rate slightly above average for similar positions

    Cons

Because the company has contracts with various clients, there's a strong incentive to cover up any problems so as not to endanger contract renewal. At my work location, two security officers were fired after reporting payroll fraud and drug/alcohol abuse since the contract was up for renewal. One the new contract was in place, the problem disappeared when the individual involved was also fired.

    Advice to Management

Ensure your managers understand it's up to them to act on problems, not hide them from the clients and upper management.

    Pros

For the most part I enjoyed working with and for the people in the company, both supervisors and other officers. along with

    Cons

Some of the company policy's were unreasonable and selfish along with some of the leadership were self centered which reflected in the way they related and treated the security officers under their authority.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more concerned with the rank and file then covering your own posterior.. I know you can not blame the total organization but the small part reflects what people see and think of the overall situation.

I worked at ABM Security Services full-time

    Pros

Healthy pay, Good response to employee issues, always have someone to cover an open shift when needed, best job available for students that I can think of, get to dress in some nice yet a little unfitting uniforms (suits and patched heavy coats).

    Cons

Will hire anyone under the sun. Security for the company is like 3% of their yearly income, so it's not a huge deal to them that they hire and loose so many people. They are also notorious for pay discrepancies and getting your money out stupidly late. (count your hours and keep a good record)

    Advice to Management

Be a little selective in the process of hiring new guards and don't skimp out or be late on the paychecks of it will bite you in the back one day
