    I worked at ABS-CBN full-time

    Pros

Lots of delicious food (if you’re into Filipino food)

    Cons

Management or “GLT” (Global Leadership Team) is not actually a leadership team. There is not a single person who has actual skilled or tangible experience of their respective fields .

Hard work and process development starts from the bottom and never fully makes it to the top.

Lots of egos in the midst of failed launches and unsuccessful products.

Bad attitudes are the norm here. Jealousy is the standard as well. Instead of rewarding good performance, employees who shine are outcasted and made to look as though they are self-promoting.

People take constructive criticism to heart and take suggestions for personal improvement as an attack on their character.

IT is a complete mess - bad data starts right at the top to the "CIO" who has herself expressed no interest to improve the data infrastructure.

Lack of directive, true knowledge, and focus from the “CMO”, “CRM” and “Project Management” teams who seem to have the worst attitudes above all (these departments have not one person with the appropriate skill set to move a project along each phase).

Buzzwords are "IN" at this company, but no experience or actual working knowledge or understanding of those words.

There is also a lack of team collaboration and unity from across the board.

Employees are either dating and/or married to another person within a different department and therefore, favorites are played. Nepotism is at its all time high at ABS-CBN.

There is no such thing as promoting based on performance, nor is there no such thing as firing anyone (unless you kick a Star Kargo box or steal food from the fridge).

Little to none communications between department.

Company culture is run based off of fear tactics, feeds on gossip and blurs the line between personal and professional.

Mangers are not management level, so they generate bad atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Clean up shop and run background checks on the people you choose to hire. Ensure those in management actually know what they’re doing and don’t hire from within just because someone is affiliated with a current employee

Company gives room for creativity. You are empowered in the way you carry out your function so long at it is aligned with meeting company goals.

    Cons

Long hours due to globally dispersed organization.
    Multi-function, multi-skilled, multi-projects
Company does not provide amenities in typical US companies (e.g. coffee, snacks, etc.)

    Hire better HR guys

    Pros

Working with the best in the industry: highly creative people, very passionate and with integrity.
All employees live by the company's motto: In the service of the Filipino.
Fun place to work in, not so formal or corporate.
Plenty of opportunities to hone out your talent or even discover new ones.

    Cons

Takes a while to have a full-time status.
In some projects, it's hard to have work-life balance.
Hard to get ahead on the corporate ladder as management is most of the time decided based on seniority.

    I worked at ABS-CBN full-time

    Pros

    - Relax, people (at least on my level) are fun to work with
    - If you want job experience, this is the place where you want to be

    Cons

HR needs some work, they should hire someone that's local and knows the culture here. For some reasons, they think that saving money = better job.

    Advice to Management

Bring-in some talent! Getting hard-working people from the Philippines is alright but getting good talent gets the job done better.

I have been working at ABS-CBN full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

My department has an understanding director that actually values their team and work/life balance, company events go all out with food, most co workers are nice, building is equipped with surveillance (no fear of having personal belongings stolen), steady paycheck if you are needed and your position hasn't been categorized for outsourcing or cheaper labor in the Philippines, great benefits and decent PTO policies.

    Cons

Not enough company and team building events, most people who work here don't even know what their co workers do for the company, most people aren't updated with what happens in other areas of the company, slow or no growth for employees, raises and bonuses exist but surely only highest executives get the most of it. Organizational changes are only memo'd to the global regions if it's a director or high level position, but there is never any mention of regional movements and how my co workers are in new departments or roles. You introduce new employees once a year, if at all. Computers are old for rank and file employees who do the dirty work but top level officers get expensive equipment so they can send emails....? Some managers are obvious with favoritism and really show it. Compensation is not market rate in the US, unless you are a director or higher. HR never reviews or assesses annual performance appraisals to determine if an employee's rate matches their work load. If it's low and saves money, HR won't say anything. if the employee brings it up, it goes through a complicated and long process before one can be approved for better pay.

    Advice to Management

This company has too many heads and directors and managers, and nobody below you know what you really do or what your title means. Develop and promote from within, instead of laying off employees with trade skills and investing in this company's growth. You bring in hot shots from other companies to fill a big executive or director role, none of which is ever known to your employees was even available. You show very little value to your employees who want to earn an honest living and ready to give all their effort and dedication to edge you over your network rivals.

My last advice is this company needs to strive to be on the "top 25 companies" to work for. It has so much promise to be that kind of company but instead some of your priorities are elsewhere: and most of us don't even know what this company's priorities are.
