I have been working at ABS Group full-time

    Pros

I have watched the organization transform its company culture through more proactive engagement of staff. There are opportunities to enhance your career and stand out in certain areas of achievement, which is encouraging to the younger generations contributing to new changes in the organization.

    Cons

More diversity is still needed, such as women in leadership roles. There is a traditional hierarchy that favors a certain demographic, but this is changing.

    Advice to Management

Continue to promote from within to develop existing talents and offer new opportunities to expand skill sets.

I have been working at ABS Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are many talented professionals withing the respective operational units

    Cons

Senior leadership is disengaged when it comes to talent development. Current management style is focused on micro managing rather than empowering employees. High performers are considered commodities that can be easily replaced.

    Advice to Management

Old school management style of the 70's needs to be addressed. Get out of your offices and engage your staff and your top performers. Succession planning is key to future growth!

    Cons

Not a lot of middle career growth. Technical field tapper off. Salary is slightly low than average.

I have been working at ABS Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Ability to work on multiple projects.
-Very intelligent, diligent, and down-to-earth coworkers. They hire some good people.
-Pay and benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

    -Employee morale is pretty low
-High attrition rate in recent months
    -Office environment overall is stifling
-Push to be 98% "billable" when there is a huge lack in work to be divvied up.

    Advice to Management

Better on boarding would have been nice. It took about 4 months for anyone to really explain what was going on. Start a conversation with your employees to address the dissonance between mid-level management and your analysts.

I have been working at ABS Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Growth Opportunity is exceptional at ABS Group
My co-workers are engaged and extremely competent
Management remains engaged on employee concerns and tries to address them.

    Cons

Traffic in and around customer sites in DC is tough and can make it difficult to go back to the main office after a full day on customer site.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look for growth areas with new initiatives

I have been working at ABS Group full-time

    Pros

Dedicated leadership with innovative direction. Motivated and dedicated teams that work smart for their clients. Continuous learning leveraging industry best practices. Really interesting career. The strongest aspect of this organization is its close-knit feel with the amenities of a big organization.

    Cons

Challenging geographical area as standard of living is high for daycare and other living expenses. Offset by support for parking and metro expenses in many locations and annual review for competitive salaries.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to learn and improve.

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere, flexibility of work hours, decent work environment, benefits are really good, career growth is getting "better".

    Cons

Where do I start? No matter what anyone says, Bureau, the parent company, and Group do not get along. Bureau can care less about making Group successful, and Group is so busy playing the victim nothing of substance ever gets done. The new CEO seems nice, but the COO really runs the company. Executives never talk to employees - ever. I have worked here for more than 5 years and my VP has never talked to me. I do no think he even knows I work here. Despite the other complaints of employees about career growth, this has gotten a little better over the last couple of years. Still not up to par, but at least people are talking about it more and I now get a performance review. The only other thing is that the leaders do not lead. They just sit in offices being reactive.

    Advice to Management

Get our of your offices and lead. Be worried about more than your bonuses and be proactive.

I have been working at ABS Group full-time

    Pros

Solid company with very good benefits package and somewhat flexible work times. In the engineering departments you can have a stable work environment with a good home/life balance.

    Cons

Not sure of their place in the markets they serve. Difficulty in moving up. If you choose the standard work day you will stay there for a long time.

    Advice to Management

Engineering and business are two separate concepts. Leaders need to focus on the business at hand and not look at everything from an engineering view point. Pick a direction and understand what it will take to get the company there.
