Smart People. Great culture. There is a good work life balance and management does a good job of giving back to it's employees.

    Cons

Going through some growing pains but nothing major or unexpected for a company this size and that is growing so fast.

    Pros

ACA Compliance Group is overall a fantastic place to work. Colleagues treat each other with respect while also being a source of help and support. As an entry level analyst with little to no knowledge about the Investment Adviser's Act, ACA provides a great training program in order to learn and process all of the information while also developing the skills requisite of a consultant. Even as a junior member of staff, you Without a doubt, the best part about working at ACA is the people you get to spend your days with. Whether in the office, with a client or out after work, time spent with fellow ACA-ers is guaranteed to be enjoyable.

    Cons

The hours can sometimes be long and unpredictable, however, there are also quieter periods of the year as well. Travel can be frequent and tiring, but is also a wonderful opportunity to see other cities!

    Pros

ACA offers an endless stream of resources and benefits for new employees, regardless of whether or not you have worked in the financial services/securities industry previously. ACA provides the perfect balance of independence while simultaneously encouraging cooperation with others and sharing ideas and thoughts on issues as a team. You will find all fellow employees are highly motivated and supportive individuals, and you will always have others to seek answers.

    Cons

Do not have any cons worth mentioning.

    Pros

ACA is incredibly dedicated to its employees at every level. The analyst training program offers some of the best on the job learning that can be had in the securities regulation industry. ACA works with a vast array of asset managers and offers exposure to some really great names and interesting firms. The work is rarely boring and there are constant new challenges and projects taking place.

On top of that, the people at ACA are each hardworking, driven individuals who care about the company's success on the whole and are therefore willing to work well with others and offer up their own knowledge and experiences. The culture is really that of a big, hardworking family. ACA is a great place to start a career with people who care about your development and the opportunities to grow as much as you're willing and able.

    Cons

There really are few genuine downsides to working at ACA, in my experience.

As an analyst, a good amount of flexibility is required in terms of being able to travel frequently and adjust your schedule sometimes with only a few weeks or so notice. Compensation is only competitive when you consider the rate at which it increases after working with ACA for a year or two. This is not a place to slack off or coast by, and if you're interested in any kind of career advancement it will take a good amount of honest, hard work to get there.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep the company culture a priority as the company grows and expands its services. It's the reason we're all here and growing!

    Pros

If you're looking to pursue a career in securities regulatory compliance, then working as an analyst at ACA is an ideal position for you. ACA has implemented a well-designed and well-structured analyst training and development program that allows analysts to build a strong familiarity with the asset management industry and a deep understanding of how this industry is regulated in the span of just 2-3 years.

Analysts typically spend 3-4 days every other week "on-site" at the offices of asset management firms that engage ACA, working together with 1-2 experienced ACA consultants to review and evaluate these clients' compliance programs (these clients are mostly hedge fund managers and private equity firms). Through these frequent "on-site" client engagements, analysts gain valuable client interaction skills. As an analyst, you will typically work "on-site" at more than 20 different clients each year. As a result, analysts tend to gain a diverse exposure to a variety of investment strategies, company cultures, operational challenges, and compliance risks.

The analyst position involves a significant amount of writing. We regularly draft compliance review reports and edit clients' compliance manuals. This work give analysts ample opportunity to hone their writing skills.

Perhaps, most importantly, ACA offers a collaborative and pleasant workplace atmosphere. While ACA's consultants are generally hard-working and professionally-driven, they also tend to be friendly and down-to-earth professionals who are eager to take the time to help mentor analysts who are less knowledgeable and experienced than them. In my experience so far, nearly all ACA consultants have been a pleasure to work with. Given the nature and frequency of ACA's on-site client engagements, analysts have extensive interaction with consultants. Most of these consultants have significant experience working for the SEC and/or working in-house for asset management firms. Therefore, every other week, analysts have the valuable opportunity to work alongside experienced compliance professionals and hear their well-informed perspectives and opinions on asset management regulatory compliance.

    Cons

I'd say that from a career-development standpoint, this is an ideal position, and I have very little negative things to say about the day-to-day experience of working as an analyst. Like almost all attractive junior positions in this area, this position entails a good amount of "busy" work that doesn't require as much critical thinking. But in my experience so far, there is far more substantive work than busy work that I do on a daily basis.

That said, the only aspect of the analyst experience that could be improved is the compensation. Once you get promoted to consultant, the compensation does get much better, but entry-level analysts will generally need to work for 2-3 years before they can be promoted to consultants.

Other than the compensation, however, I can't think of any significant negative things to say about this job. And that says a lot about how positive of an experience I've had so far at ACA.

Client base is vast. Events and culture are great. Sales, consulting and technical skills in the financial industry will be vastly sharpened. Refreshing if you are coming from a larger institution or government agency.

    Cons

Technology and office space could be improved. Transparency as to how well the firm is doing for the quarter.

    Advice to Management

Keep culture of confidence and trust amongst employees. Share performance and targets. Maintain the cross divisional efforts to close deals. Continue to invest in developing management and leaders from within.

    Pros

The company promotes the culture and experience in the field - I agree on both fronts. The mid-40s management team creates an environment where if you work hard and attain to be an expert in your field, you will be rewarded in your career. The management team welcome ideas and encourages diversity. A strong majority of the staff enjoy their time together during off hours.

    Cons

Depending on the position, there can be a lot of travel involved - some divisions is every other week.

    Advice to Management

Keep on keeping on. Thanks for the great 4 years.
