    Cons

Training lacking. Wage increase low and slow. Very little opportunity for advancement, must be one of the click members. Many job positions have been eliminated since merger.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, nice people who are supportive and work as a team. Open door policy to management - mid and executive levels. Opinions matter and solutions to problems are discussed as a team.

    Cons

Mediocre retirement package. The company has a dollar to dollar match up to 3%, but only deposits to your account once a year, in January. No pension, the company again makes a one time deposit of 6% of your salary once a year. Some systems are archaic. No advancement unless you are already an underwriter.

    Advice to Management

Give better bonuses to lower level support people. Continue with work / life balance flexibility.

    Pros

Wow, u am struggling to think of a pro...free coffee? Window seat? Don't need raise my hand to ask permission to use restroom?

    Cons

Senior management is a joke and out of touch with reality. It's a do as I say not as I do culture. The workload and expectations are impracticable. You cannot expect employees to work excessively and produce a quality product. Existing staff who have been there for a while know the game so they do less work and still manage to get similar raises and bonuses has those who work harder and longer hours. The company is not flexible and there's no trust in their employees. Working from home is viewed as a vacation from the office and is not encouraged.

    Advice to Management

    Be more like Google.
    appreciate your employees
don't just ask for advice... listen and take action

I have been working at ACE Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Exceptional benefits and retirement savings plans; money to be had; strong company; competitive ESPP; decent number of company holidays and time off.

    Cons

Middle Management is out of touch with their staff and has too many unrealistic goals. Management routinely employs a "do as I say not as I do attitude" and their leadership style has too many double standards (WFH, vacation black outs, etc.). Some people are in leadership positions who have no idea how to lead. Frequent infringement on your work/life balance. Not much room to grow unless you are in the right network

    Advice to Management

Your employee's dedication will reflect your leadership. Trust the professional judgement of your employees.

    Pros

IT Finance team achieved a major leadership upgrade upon completion of Chubb merger/acquisition. Historically very strong talent at the AVP level and on down the chain and with new leadership, things have really come together. EVP level above the team is also very strong and fair.

    Cons

Growing pains and the seemingly perpetual ITS budget planning cycle that ties down too many resources, unnecessarily. Annual raises tend to be paltry so be sure to negotiate well when you come in. Ask for additional time in vacation as they are also extremely behind the times with only 2 weeks vaca to start.

    Advice to Management

Ensure leadership is well aware of corporate policies that impact employees, like in the case of flexibility. Offer leadership development programs for those that are at the VP level to help develop the skills needed to let go of being a micro-manager.

    Pros

Really, none other than you would now be working for Chubb.

    Cons

Mgmt that has little experience and were allowed to keep those positions through the FFIC and then Chubb transitions and are insecure, arrogant and somewhat incompetent, especially compared to the Fireman's management who were displaced. Chubb continued the tradition by pushing their own mgmt. over the displaced Fireman's Fund talent and expects far too much work - clearly how they have kept expenses low.

    Advice to Management

Stand back and look at the political vs. talent based decisions that have been made and allow the most experienced and proven talent back into the game.
