I have been working at ACO Hardware part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hardware is cool to discuss and coworkers are usually college age. The job is very active and keeps me occupied all the time I'm there.

    Cons

No room for advancement. Pay is terrible. Customers are rude and management usually takes the customers side. This makes me feel as of management doesn't care about it's employees.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate employees more and pay better wages. Don't expect $20 worth of work per hour for $8.15/hr.

I worked at ACO Hardware part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working as a sales associate at ACO Hardware, now Great Lakes Ace Hardware, was a great experience. The company has a unique culture and teaches important values to its part time employees. Colleagues are friendly and everyone works as a team to complete tasks.

    Cons

Every new part time employee starts on the register. Little experience with other operations is gained until one has "graduated" onto the "floor". Other than this minor hindrance which can be a bit annoying upon first hour, I do not have much to add to the cons section.

    Advice to Management

Establish stronger company values and work to make them a part of every employee's experience on the job.

I have been working at ACO Hardware full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

NONE !! They absolutely do not care about their employees and never did ( Except for Mary Tutor, she was an angel )

    Cons

    Too many to list !

    Advice to Management

What management ? They were all fired starting in 2000 !! The good people that brought ACO to what they were several years ago have all been replaced. Cutthroat, backstabbing non trustworthy organization. ACO = A Cutthroat Organization ! Glad they are gone !!!!

I have been working at ACO Hardware full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule with every other weekend off.

    Cons

Transfers and locations are very different with totally different expectations.

    Advice to Management

To many communications that are incorrect, need revision and it seems like the office people put this stuff out for their own job security. So many meetings with so much valuable information that never makes its way to the stores. Then there is the good old boy network that still needs to be addressed. There are so many talented educated and dedicated individuals that are overlooked for their contributions. Regular reviews are not done and this needs to be a priority.
