Stable environment to work in .

    Cons

Lower than average pay. Have to make moves yourself, company does not define a career progression path.

    Advice to Management

Be more like Mark Smith, instead of being so arrogant.

    Pros

Nice facilities. Everyone has an office with a view. Great benefits. Layed back atomosphere.

    Cons

Hard to get promotions. Tend to hire from outside instead of promoting from within. Many people are blind to the overall goals of the company. Most of engineering has little involvment with the customers.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of people who continuously do not do their jobs effectively even after it being brought to their attention. Make sure that all employees are aware of where their products are going, details about the appliation, and who the customer is. This knowledge will help them make the best decisions possible when designing.

    Pros

Adtran is a conservative company that is steady. You are not in constant fear of losing your job. The work is challenging and fulfilling.

    Cons

Adtran is very conservative on compensation. It's benefits are also pretty pricey compared to other companies I have friends working for.

    Pros

-One of the few big non-defense companies in town.
    -Solid engineering folks.

    Cons

-Huntsville is a small city. As such, it is very boring for someone from a larger city.

I have been working at ADTRAN full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Family atmosphere. While there is some stress to get the job done, employee-employee and employee-management relations could not be better. Very enjoyable work environment.
Very talented engineering team, everyone pulls their share.
Management is conservative (long history of profitability) and accessible.
    Traditionally low turnover.
    Excellent facilities.

    Cons

Growth has slowed compared to 10 years ago and the workforce is still relatively young making promotion opportunities hard to come by.
Benefits aren't bad, but for a company that prides itself on hiring the "best & brightest", overall compensation is a little low.

    Advice to Management

    none

    Lack of micromanagement
    Opportunities to learn
    Friendly staff
    Open-door policy
    Never a dull moment

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in key individuals. Get engineers into the field to interact with customers more often.

I worked at ADTRAN as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay was competitive with other co-ops and they really found meaningful work for each co-op to do. I worked with three different departments during my stay at ADTRAN and felt like I was truly helping contribute to the team and doing meaningful work.

    Cons

Can't think of any real cons, the entire experience was great and they really care about their co-ops. I didn't have one bad experience here.
