I worked at AECOM (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive compensation with other engineering consulting firms, flexible for remote work.

    Cons

Silos between business lines, lack of career development and stingy when it comes to classes or conferences, losing technical leads and therefore losing interesting and challenging engineering projects so most of work focused on standard remediation projects, lack of management direction.

I worked at AECOM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay (high school diploma minimum), great benefits

    Cons

Management at my site were incompetent and never did what was best for us, inadequate coworkers were never put on improvement plans and never fired, a lot of brown nosing involved, no way to move up in the company unless management specifically targeted you for promotion, very low morale

    Advice to Management

Clean house, hire competent people, ask job specific questions not general interview questions, care about your employees, help us with our career goals, no stick and carrot promises

    Pros

They have very impressive AEC projects around the globe.

Short-term decision making to meet Wall Street numbers has outsourced or eliminated 10%-20% of the company in 2015-2017.

    Advice to Management

Care about the details because you don't - not in HR, AP, and many other departments

I have been working at AECOM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great focus on safety, treats employees fairly

    Cons

Employees need to use a very bulky intranet system to access benefits, paystubs, etc. They need at least 5 different logons for various sites, and the system is often down.

    Advice to Management

Stop adding new intranet accesses and give employees something streamlined and easy to use.
