I worked at AECOM Tishman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work environment if you get with the right team. Probably the best work experience in my life but then I had a lot of social capital in the company over 17 years there. Worked on great projects with great execs and able to lead some great teams. Was there when Tishman got bought out by AECOM and saw benefits and culture shift a bit but the old Tishman guys are still there to protect the old Tishman culture.

    Cons

Moved me up to Boston office and kept sending me to work on NY project where they are the big fish in a big pond, whereas in Boston they are small fish in medium pond. Needed to get back to a better family existence.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep the accountants from running the company. It has became an accounting company that builds buildings and just another AECOM profit center

I worked at AECOM Tishman full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent vertically integrated hotel asset management company with strong ownership guidance and first class leadership. Work with seasoned professionals with a team that is involved in all levels of ownership.

    Cons

There is limited growth as the focus on the company is to maintain their portfolio with limited growth. The slow growth can stifle opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Look for new opportunities to invest in the hospitality sector by branching out into other locations that may have improved performance. By cycling into other cities, risk is diversified.

    Pros

Large company. Plenty room to grow and climb the ladder. All work colleagues were friendly and willing to help.

    Cons

As it is a large company it is somewhat bureaucratic. In my division workers are left to their own devices with minimal check-ins.

    Pros

The employees of the Chicago office are very knowledgeable, competent and experienced in their fields. I am a seasoned Administrative Professional; however, when I was hired, I was new to the industry. I had to get familiar with the language and the processes. All the Project Mangers and PE were very helpful and answered all the questions I had. Management were extremely nice and encouraging while learning the new job.

    Cons

I have no cons in my experience.

    - Vacation times are there, but taking a long vacation is NOT guilt free
