I worked at AFCO Industries full-time

    Pros

If you like kissing butt then work there

    Cons

The manager takes more break than most of the people there and they pick favorites instead of treating everyone fairly and when they over fill tankers the chemicals are waded down a drain and out in the ground and it's been a lot of chemicals too so they don't care about the environment and the place has some good people that work there but the new manager is very corrupt and back stabbing he will lie and make promises...

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at AFCO Industries full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The pay is ok, but don't expect to grow. As long as you follow the rules and pull your weight, you'll get along very well here.

    Cons

Hours are not consistent in the winter months. They're unable to adequately staff the plant, but that's probably due to contracting poor staffing companies. They certainly play favorites when it comes to any type of promotion. They will make up any reason they can not to give raises when review time comes around, but inform you how profitable the company is in the quarterly meeting. They seem to make up policy as they...

I have been working at AFCO Industries full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

There are no Pros, The management takes no responsibility for their actions. You have heard the saying sh_t rolls down hill that is true at AFCO but remember if the sh_t rolls down hill that means it came from someone at the top of the hill.

    Cons

No job security, No reliable retirement fund, unrealistic expectations from management. Management treats all employee's like dirt. Old worn out equipment. Raises consist of a maximum of 3% of your current wage once a year...if your lucky

    Advice to Management

Get off your butts and walk out to the production area and look at the working conditions you are putting people in. Look at the goals given to production and the tools or the lack of tools they have to meet those goals. Lastly get your heads out of your ass.

I have been working at AFCO Industries full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

There is nothing about this company that is good for the hourly employee's.

    Cons

The company calls itself a employee owned company. They give you stock in the company instead of having a 401k. The program is set up so that almost nobody will ever get any money out of it, as a matter of fact in 40 years only 4 or 5 people have ever retired and received any money. If you quit or get fired before you retire it takes 10 years to get what money you do have in the program. If the company ever goes out of...

    Advice to Management

Stop blaming your employee's for quality and production issues and start looking at your equipment and company policies pertaining to hiring qualified people capable of being trained and paying a decent wage. Just so you know you can get more than 8 or 9 dollars an hour digging ditches and your asking people to learn a skilled trade for that........lastly get you heads out of your arse and take responsibility for your...

I have been working at AFCO Industries

    Pros

The people there are nice. The experience learned there is good for future jobs. Management is understanding. Laid back environment.

    Cons

There is no room to advance within the company. They pay minimum wage to start out whereas comparable jobs pay about double that. The work weeks are not steady. Some weeks you might work 40 hours, others 30 or less.

    Advice to Management

To keep employees around and reasonably happy, increase pay rates considerably. As well, let employees know more in advance about time off instead of a day before.
