I have been working at AGC full-time

    Pros

The work is simple, the pay is decent and there are bonuses and benefits if you stick it out.

    Cons

The cons are practically those that you'll find anywhere you go. It's a small plant where everybody knows everybody. If you can avoid drama, try do so. Keep to yourself and you'll do fine.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the advice that is given daily. Make a suggestion box. Communicate information between shifts more effectively.

    Pros

The senior leadership really takes an interest in the employees and the company as a whole. They want feedback for improvements.

    Cons

The surrounding area needs a revival.

I worked at AGC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Solid leadership, especially the American leadership (the CEO is always a Japanese expat, and gets changed up every two or three years). Financial very stable. Benefits, especially the 401(k), are off the chart fantastic. Pay is highly competitive. The work will challenge you. In many jobs, international travel (mostly to Tokyo, always in business class) is necessary.

    Cons

The constant turnover of CEO leads to fits and starts and inconsistency. Office environment is pretty run down, although I hear they're renovating some spaces. Senior leadership is very weak at providing attaboys, which led me to feel as though my accomplishments and work were meaningless. Sometimes Japan gets too involved, and they don't understand how business in the US works.

    Advice to Management

Hire a local to be CEO.

I have been working at AGC full-time

    Pros

AGC Automotive North America invests heavily in some manufacturing processes. But not so much in the technical side of the human element. This equipment is supposed to run all by itself

    Cons

New manufacturing equipment is new but the tools to manage the business are vintage 1985. The entire company is run on Excel spreadsheet and silos of knowledge walk out the door every day due to frustration and retirement.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade your management system to reflect the times and industry you are in. Running the business via excel spreadsheets is risky a best and irresponsible to say the least.
