I worked at AGCO full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is ok, but make your best deal going in or good luck getting it later!

    Cons

    1) Highly matrixed organization with little cooperation from site managers and no support from senior management to get things done. 2) Benefits over the past several years have diminished significantly 3) Ivory tower management never leaves the tower and if you do see them they don't acknowledge the commoners 4) Martin runs the show with complete intolerance toward others 5) Shared services (HR, IT, Accounts... payable/receivable, etc.) are all a joke 6) Management continues to cut budgets / people w/o realizing the loss of value in experience (just learning the company structure can take years) 7) I could go on, but it would just get uglier

    Advice to Management

Executive management (aka. Duluth ivory tower) should really get out more and spend time with the little people to learn what they are up against, 'how-to' fix it, and get in touch with the 'real' business. Also spending more time in the trenches, would actually by-pass the ear ticklers you hear from now. There is actually stuff that could easily be done to correct some issues and long term plans that could easily... be made to improve things. In short, until the Executives are willing to pay attention, listen, and do something to and 'fix' the internal crap, AGCO will forever remain a 'good ole boys' club for upper management and a mediocre performing company with poor morale. As example here are some ideas that might help: 1) stop watching the budget all the time and INVEST in your people (training, fair wage increases, improved vacation, better benefits), it would go a long way to improving morale 2) try some management by walking around and encourage employees to spill the beans (w/o fear of retribution from their overlords) 3) create direct line reporting structures for shared services (accounting, purchasing, HR, IT, etc.) 4) Stop cutting jobs, people are already scared most of the time they are going to lose their jobs, the result is extremely poor morale 5) hold some skip level meetings with employees so you hear their voices 6) consider hiring more people! working with a skeleton crew all the time does not make a good work life balance!! 7) make sure your middle management are actually qualified to do their own jobs, understand and have a strategy and can actually communicate the vision to employees. Then work with employees on understanding how they fit into the strategy and then keep them aware of the progress. . . this alone would be a vast improvement There is more, but that should get you started!

I worked at AGCO full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

AGCO supports an entrepreneurial spirit and always has the best of intentions. Filled with great people. Pays its employees very well.

    Cons

They have great difficulty changing their ways of marketing their products but are continually surprised that they don't gain market share. They are reorganizing constantly. They are heavily influenced by their European management which doesn't always understand America.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your present executive management in North America and foster some real change to gain market share. Stick with a program longer than 6 months.
