I have been working at AHRC Nassau full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a great place to work. They truly care about all staff and treat them with respect. There is an open door policy for all administration and they treat everyone fair and with respect.

    Cons

Raises rely on state funding which has been cut, so they don’t happen often

I have been working at AHRC Nassau full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learn about individuals' disabilities. Get to know medical terminology and how to dispense medication once AMAP certified.

    Cons

What they don't mention is that you could be spending 4-5 hours driving a van each day because you do transport. The personalities of managers can vary widely. You have to suck up to them. Its very cliquey and the attitude you get can be atrocious. Yes, there are lots of jobs available because people don't stick around long. They are always short staffed so we have to combine routes. I hardly have time for lunch or break. It's terrible.

    Advice to Management

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Constant short staffing, hardly time to eat my lunch. I have to eat my lunch with my individuals. Why don't you try that? Also, why don't you do a route for me? Thanks
