I worked at AHRC Nassau full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of benefit time. 403B and profit sharing retirement funds

    Cons

When I started working for this agency 15+ years ago, it was a fun place to work with a lot of staff supports in place. In the past 5-8yrs, new administration and agency went down hill. Upper administrations only care about themselves and their perks. Low staff morale. Micro managed. Too many administrators not needed making big salaries, driving around in company cars while laying off long term employees making $18-$30/hr. No leadership or support by administration. If something goes wrong a lot of finger pointing. Lack of communication. Administration do not know how to effectively put policies in place leaving staff to figure it out themselves. A lot of work for low pay. Staff hired for one location site but due to the ongoing staff shortage, staff floating to other site locations daily. Administration tell staff they encourage advancement, however, if you are not part of their clique or one of their favorites, you are not going anywhere. Agency does not value hard working employees with a strong work ethic. Longevity works against you in this agency. Medical benefits costly to employees. Trainings minimal.

    Advice to Management

Waste or time. They don't listen. Administrators still under the impression this is a fabulous agency where employees are happy.

    Pros

The health benefits are decent at lease

    Cons

I don't know where to start. Every year it seems like they added more and more for the staff to do, and less money.

    Advice to Management

    Get some decent transportation.

I have been working at AHRC Nassau full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The volunteers are awesome to work with!

    Cons

I been her for over 16 years and when I first started this was a great place to work. Now the pay sucks, no staff, always floating to other sites when the site is down staff already. The upper management does not give any support to day hab or residential. They hire morons who do not know what they are doing and a big dangerous risk for the volunteers. The upper management only cares about themselves. This is the most horrible place to work!

    Advice to Management

Pay more money, hire staff who have experience and treat your employees with RESPECT!

    Pros

A very professional company with really good benefits. Once you get your foot in the door, there are many ways for you to move up in the company

    Cons

The pay is kind of slow, decent, but low. Depending on what’s your position it’s hard to get a lot of overtime

I have been working at AHRC Nassau part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The individuals are great and it is very rewarding

    Cons

The management is poor, they only car for themselves and moving up in the company. Upper management Director, Assistant Director etc... have no cares or worries for staff members. Ever man for themselves at the work place. You complain and nothing get changed. Management have favorites and sleep with workers, upper management close their eyes to everything. Drinking and driving, smoking or high while having individuals in their care. I can go on for days about this place.

    Advice to Management

Why bother they wont listen anyways
