    I worked at AICPA full-time

    Cons

Sometime internal politics were not positive.

    Pros

Excellent, engaged and intelligent colleagues. A dynamic and interesting profession to support. Member interaction is amazing and helps keep everyone focused on the strategic goals to drive the profession forward.

    Cons

Not a 'con' but a word of advice - This is a professional services-style organization. Sometimes people come here thinking it's an association where they will work a simple 40 hours per week. The work is demanding and rewarding.

    Advice to Management

Continue on with being transparent as you drive change and create the future!

I worked at AICPA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Flexible hours and work from home
    - Working with people in the organization
    - People are friendly and helpful
    - Compensation

    Cons

    - Half the managers are unqualified
    - No sense of priority. A project becomes a priority this week because someone was louder than someone else. Next week is no longer a priority but still expected to deliver on both
    - Multiple initiatives not enough staff
    - Flexible hours, the expectation from top management is to get it done in any way possible every day of the week. Leading to a lot of uncompensated overtime.
    - Projects are badly scoped or not all
    - Lack of focus. There is a need cascaded by management to please the customers with anything they want or need. Even if unreasonable.
    - Over promise and under deliver all the time
    - No vision for the department
    - Management rarely provides direction and lacks communication
    - Senior management have their not so secret weekly meetings and decisions don't get shared with staff
    - Management by fear "if you don't deliver by X date you will lose your job"
    - Title card gets pulled if you disagree on an approach with management
    - IT has a bad reputation with the rest of the business and is not trusted

    Advice to Management

    - Train management to lead not to manage
    - Place qualified personnel in positions that match their skill and not because of politics
    - Senior management needs to open their office door and get to know the team
    - Deliver what is promised to staff, don't twist things because you could not deliver. Be honest and transparent
    - Provide direction and support to staff
    - Provide training and professional development
    - Allow staff to have the opportunity to express themselves without repercussions

I have been working at AICPA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Flexible work from home options
    -Has on-site cafeteria
    -Vacation package is great

    Cons

-The benefits are very expensive, especially for a family.
-Departments are run by managers that all have HUGE ego's.
-With the merger with CIMA, it is a mess, processes are everywhere.
-No communication on anything, policies change all the time.
-Diversity in upper management and especially the leadership team- it basically does not exist.
-They seem to let go of any great employees that ask questions and try to suggest a new innovative perspective.

    Advice to Management

    - Stop promoting people because you are friends with them.
    - Get better health care benefits.
-Get rid of the ego's on the upper management.
