I worked at AIG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company and excellent benefits. Work, life, balance is definitely a focal point. Lots of room for growth and different locations to choose from. It is the type of company you can retire from if you don't like moving from job to job.

    Cons

The pay is sub par, but what they lack in salary they make up in benefits. I would admonish the company to include more team busking activities and invests more in employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Keep morale up by taking more of an interest in employees. Have team building and interactive festivities.

I worked at AIG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really good people, and I really liked my managers. They were straight up with me. They weren't always toeing the company line. They would say things like, If you don't get xyz done then I get in trouble so help me out here.

    Cons

The area I work in has a shrinking market share and layoffs were inevitable. They supported the sales force for quite a while, so that was good, but in the end the severance package was not sufficient.

    Advice to Management

I liked management on my side. I thought they were forthright. The product needs to be one of the top 3 in the industry given current trends. It is not. They need to be the clear winner in one area and focus on that.

I worked at AIG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great start to get into the Insurance and Securities Industry. You will talk to Financial Advisors and key account managers to wholesale products and goods.

    Cons

Growth opportunity was lacking and promotion from within to the next sales position was limited. Career Succession was nearly non existent and easy to become complacent.

    Advice to Management

Create goals for top performers and help them get to new careers within the company.
