  • Working in a call center is pretty much the low end of the workforce spectrum to begin with, and this company is no exception (in 5 reviews)

    Pros

There are no pros here. Unless you work the system and become one of the favorites of the senior management team, you are screwed. This whole organization needs to be cleaned thoroughly starting at the CEO that runs this place like a University of Michigan frat house. He is an absent "manager" since his life revolves around traveling and wining/dining clients he will never win. His favorites are all positioned in executive roles and it shows. They have zero management skills and treat the employees like garbage. The CFO has no interest in handling finances but he does enjoy bullying the females of the organization to let them know he is in charge. The COO is a sales person that should not be running a company. He will attack and embarrass his direct reports in meetings just to project his failures elsewhere. When you dread coming to work daily you need to make changes. I left after two years and have never felt better.
Do not think anyone has a career here unless you can play ball with the terrorists up top.

    Cons

The whole organization is a con and unless you can be a favorite, you won't get anywhere. There is no career coaching, mentoring nor opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

Anthem needs to really start looking at their other smaller divisions and make management changes.

I worked at AIM Specialty Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The salary and bonus structure is good but it doesn't compensate for the total lack of respect, poor management and the low morale you walk away with.

    Cons

This division of Anthem needs to have Anthem corporate come in and clean out senior management ASAP. It is apparent that there is a problem when the worker bees of the organization are running out the door at lightening speed. There is major abuse of the budget and finances; "favorites" get to travel and expense unnecessary client trips which in reality are golf trips that the COO, CFO and other SVP favorites are actually on. There are also tons of expensive group dinners categorized as client outings with falsified attendee counts.
There is abuse of employees with favorites being held at a different set of policy and procedures with blatant disregard for standard HR practices. The theme is that the hard working, individuals that pump out quality work are a threat and are treated as such. Degraded in meetings, embarrassed in front of their peers; instead of nurturing talent they push it away and nurture the bad seeds of the group.
The frequency of how senior management throws anyone under the bus to cover up their poor management and decision making is disgraceful.
All the above is a fraction of what takes place in this horrible organization. The bottom line is; you are making a mistake thinking there is any potential here. They will sink this ship.
This senior management would never get away with this behavior at any other organization, including Anthem corporate, which is why they have stayed at AIM for so long. Eventually it will catch up to them and hopefully the quality worker bees will not go down with these tyrants up top.

    Cons

Long hours, redundant and repetitive boring job

I have been working at AIM Specialty Health full-time

    Pros

Opportunities for growth and development in customer service, account management and IT. Also allows growth into parent company Anthem. New competition forcing company to improve employee satisfaction and pay. Opportunities to work from home and flexible schedules becoming available. Benefits are excellent.

    Cons

Hiring is focusing more on customer service than healthcare background. While this is normally good, specialty programs can require more in-depth knowledge. Causes abrasion with some doctors offices.

    Advice to Management

Focus on managing growth. Lots of business is good unless you cannot manage the issues that different clients come with.

I have been working at AIM Specialty Health full-time

    Pros

Very smart and talented associate pool.

    Cons

Limited people management, development, and growth opportunities. Very cliquish, the only way to excel is to be part of the inner circle. Diversity (opinions, approach, gender, race) is not celebrated.

    Advice to Management

Associate satisfaction is important. Invest in your people the way you require they invest in you and the company.
