  1. "Awesome technology, good company to work for"

I have been working at AIXTRON full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome technology for thin film deposition. Aixtron invests time, money and talent in developing new technology for thin film deposition. Its very exciting to know that the final product forms the nano sized building blocks in tiny devices in almost all the cell phones, computers and displays. Carbon nanotubes, 3-5 MOCVD, OLEDS and ALD are some of company's visible strong technologies. Nice people to work with.

    Cons

Extreme high tech means long time to develop. Few Top end customers with intense competition from larger established technology companies.

    Advice to Management

Company is hurt by cyclical nature of the capital equipment market. Increase customer base and technology alternatives to minimize the impact of the downcycle.

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits package compared to other industry peers. Decent work culture, dedicated engineers. Good diversity in workplace, team members generally help each other out.

    Cons

Too conservative approach to innovation. Parent company does not regard U.S branch as equal. Executive management has high resistance to change. Too focused on fixing obsolete hardware, instead of strategizing on a higher level to develop better solutions. Career advancement is limited.

    Advice to Management

Seek for parent company to embrace U.S culture and innovation to drive product development. Help employees in career advancement and actively provide resources and foster culture to increase capacity of employees.

    Pros

    Strong technological know-how and presence.
Well placed within its markets and market locations.
Employees below middle management are motivated and hard working individuals.

    Cons

Highly politically motivated upper management styles.
    Not team driven
The Company is less and less innovative within its market
Leadership style tends to be surrounding themselves with "yes" people
Top executive management seems to be more elitist

    Advice to Management

Innovate.....the competition is leading the market.
The Supervisory board could be take a harder, more engaged, review and action(s) with the current direction of the Company, its products and its executive leadership. This should be done through independent outside resources.
    Trust your people.
