I have been working at ALDI full-time

    Pros

Work attire is free. Good vacation time. Store is closed some holidays. Gain floating holiday for working during open holidays. $2 free every pay check for work shoes. Great 104k and health insurance. Above minimum wage hourly pay.

    Cons

Random schedule every week. Work all shifts at random: Open Shift 6am to 2pm. Mid Shift from 11am to 7pm. Closing shift from 2pm to 10pm. Required to work cash register, stock shelves, clean store, customer service, and inventory.

I worked at ALDI as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay. Lot's of responsibility. The actual work wasn't hard, very simple and organized schedule, you do the same things each week. Plan on schedule. The internship gives a very real insight of that a full time position looks like.

    Cons

As I mentioned the work was simple...not a single part of this was academically or mentally challenging. You do not need a college degree to do this job, a high school grad can do the level of work required. I feel like I went to college for nothing. The culture is VERY professional. No fun no games. Also, be expected to work 12 hours a day AT LEAST. The hours are long and hard and you are dressed in business professional just to walk around a grocery store...You're office is inside a grocery store. Also forget socializing. You will be isolated the whole day besides once a month you meet with all the other DM's in your region. Definitely not a team environment. Also there is not a ton of growth opportunities. You can't move into another department like marketing for example. All in all, good experience because it made me realize what I don't want to do or what I don't want in a company.

I worked at ALDI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good pay, great people to work with. Loved the customers.

    Cons

Alot of micromanagement from district managers.
Continues to hire management off street instead of promoting from within. More negative feedback than positive from some upper management.

    Advice to Management

Need to develop the associates you have, to take over management roles, instead of hiring off the street on a consistent basis. Reward loyal associates. Have at least one positive, then negative. Follow AMS.

    Pros

Pay is decent. Benefits are good.

    Cons

Way too much expected out of one person. DM's are typically Hitlers offspring.

    Advice to Management

You want to hit productivity....do away with DM's. They aren't needed. All they do is ridicule and act like they know what's going on.

I worked at ALDI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very useful employee health insurance at a very cheap price for ex: $10-12 per paycheck & that is for everything. Medical, dental, vision, prescription. Thats a steal.

    Cons

Aldi tell you to treat customers, the "ALDI" way. And that is to push customers to put stuff on the belt faster. Or to multi task while a customer is putting stuff on the belt. Its horrible. I know Aldi's groceries are cheap and people will come back. But that is absolutely no way to treat a customer.

If you are a male, you have to shave every day. No exception. Your face will be irritated. There is no other grocery store that will require you to do this. paying $12-13 to cashiers and squeezing every penny from that $12-13.

Its a company policy to work with haste. If your store is on the low selling part of the city, you are basically screwed. Because you are going to have to work faster and clock out quicker to not make a loss. Its so messed up.

Have to take orders from some just out the college graduate who doesn't have any experience in sale.

Bottom line, they tell you to treat customers in a very nasty way. And once the customer complain about you, on strict 3, they'll fire you in a very humiliating way. I've seen people not lasting in stores for not more than 2-3 months.

    Advice to Management

Just because right out college you earn 80k & you drive an up to year Camry with all gas paid doesn't mean cashiers deserve to be treated like door matts.

Stop bragging about higher than average cashier pay when you force cashiers to treat people like horribly.

Just like Aldi's products, its all about quantity than quality. They would rather hire cashiers every year to pay them $12.5 per hour than letting a cashier stay for 2-3 years and pay him/her $14 per hour.

I have been working at ALDI full-time

    Pros

Benefits at less than 40 hrs

    Cons

    Advice to Management

I know your stressed and probably hurting physically too, but at least pretend to be human

Long hours, no work / life balance, constantly tied to your cell phone, always on call, no matter how hard you work it won't be enough

    Advice to Management

    Change your philosophy
