I have been working at ALDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and benefits
    Training opportunities
Travel opportunities within the US and Internationally (Germany headquarters)
    Friendly employees
    New building
    Company is growing, job security

    Cons

    Lack of strong leadership
Poor communication across the corporate departments
    Too much red tape
    Slim staffing
    Limited growth opportunities for employees
    Poor, overly customized IT solutions

    Advice to Management

The IT department needs LEADERS. The red tape and excessive policies are overwhelming and it is killing morale. Your employees want to help but they are losing motivation- right now there aren't many good reasons why they should stay. Two years is a long time to stay patient and wait it out for the transformation project. You need to focus more on what you can do NOW to make it better because that is what your employees care about most.

I have been working at ALDI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay offers benefits and a very hard working staff.

    Cons

Back breaking work. Mostly female staffing, unrealistic work load completion for small staffing.

    Advice to Management

Change from only having 1 register during peak times and holidays. Stop timing cashier's so that they are not throwing products into customer's carts. Listen to customer complaints and actually offer real customer service.

I have been working at ALDI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Good benefits and vacation/time off to all associates and management team.
    - One week vacation after your first 6 months of employment. Another week after 1st year anniversary. 2 weeks from the second anniversary.
    - Starting pay of $12 per hour.
    - You learn to do everything, since you do everything. Unloading the truck and working the pallets (grocery, cooler, freezer, meat, bread, etc).

    Cons

    - No Work/Life Balance whatsoever (specially for Management team)
    - No reward/encouragement system for any associate (other than the pay)
    - Everybody gets paid the same. Raises are based on a chart, not by performance (therefore discouraging associates to go above their expectations/basic job description)
    - Employees are over-worked. Each associate does the function of at least 3 employees at any other grocery store.
    - Only 2 to 3 employees per shift, including the mgr.
    - Employees are timed for everything they do.
    - While at the register you are required to ring over 1,000 items per hour.
    - In between customers (literally while they are unloading the groceries into the belt) you have to fill candy, bags, clean the floors, control people from stealing by controlling the front door and exit, among many other tasks). You have to literally RUN and be everywhere!
    - Lack of consistency. District Managers change too often, changing the game plan for the store 2-4 times a year.
    - In order to be considered for full time you have to be completely available. But they only guarantee 25 hrs weekly. When the stores are fully staff, each associates gets scheduled 26-27 hrs a week. They when they are short staffed, you get scheduled 45+hrs and 1 day off or none (very inconsistent).

    Advice to Management

Listen to your Store Managers and help them with encouragements techniques for the associates. Be more consistent following policies. It seems that every store follows the rules that they want. Aldi is very inconsistent which causes frustration among employees and management. Communication is terrible from the Divisional office, to the District Managers and then to the stores.

Aldi employees are very unhappy and working just for the money (while they get something better). That is why turnover is ridiculously high. Be aware that this is a common feeling among several districts and overall division. Changes in Management in the Divisional Office are hurting the Stores.

I worked at ALDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great, & keep me there longer than I felt welcome.

    Cons

No diversity on store management level ( depending on demographics) Upstate S.C. Poor communication from upper management to MT's & below. If you're an African American in this area in management don't expect to EVER have your own store. It's never happened, although I pray it does.

    Advice to Management

Personnel needs to develop a better communications system. Proper training & development of associates will reduce turnover. Store managers need a permanent assistant, & also need not to be intimidated by the growth, knowledge, or the skills of said assistant. Don't make non-caucasions feel so isolated by hiring only 1 per store (demographically speaking😉).

I worked at ALDI part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and having holidays off

    Cons

    - Management have issues with communication. Some training to be good managers would go a long way
    - No facial hair policy. I am a grown up man. However when I shave I look like a child. Yes I satisfied Aldi's policy, but now it is not easy to be taken seriously with my slim frame and no facial hair. How about adjusting the policy to clean trim and professional appearance?
    - Always short staffed and the employees are running around with the customer high demand.

    Advice to Management

    - More mangers training, specially with communication
    - Modify shaven face policy. Some cleanly trimmed facial hair is better than grown up men looking like children
    - More staff on the floor
