I worked at ALS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, steady work, good place to start in a laboratory environment to get experience, 401k, 2 weeks vacation & 40 hours PTO to start out, great healthcare insurance options, friendly and hardworking staff, flexible hours

    Cons

Disorganized management, poor communication, employees are given unreasonable workload, understaffed, below average pay, expected to work long hours and weekends to make up for not having adequate staff, expected to use very old equipment that constantly have issues

    Advice to Management

Hire adequate staff, pay employees what the deserve, provide newer instruments & equipment so that employees can do their jobs without constantly repairing old, unreliable equipment

I have been working at ALS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of my coworkers are really nice and easy to work with. You can pretty much make your own schedule.

    Cons

There is blatant favoritism where the laziest employees get promoted because they suck up to the supervisor. This is a very dishonest company. They lied and told us we'd get raises and then changed it one month later.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason why there is such a high turnover rate here. The employees are not treated fairly at all. Make us feel valued and we'll stay.

I worked at ALS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, they will make adjustment to your work schedule if you inform them of a change early enough. Fun co-workers, we did quite a few team building events such as movies, rock climbing, local city events. A lot of freedom of how to get your work done in the allotted time.

    Cons

Poor communication between management and staff even staff supervisors. Unrealistic expectations, sometimes the management gave deadlines they were completely unreasonable with no overtime to finish the work. A lot of trying to cut cost on little things which turn into major problems. Very limited advancement in career, I was told that I had capped out how far I could advance after about 3 years of working there. Senior management doesn't seem to value employees a fellow employee of 3 years was told they could be easily replaced by any one walking down the street.

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with your supervisors and staff. See they value and loyalty of your employees and reciprocate it.

    Pros

Great places to get work experience right out of college. Friendly staff and project managers. Full work days never seems slow.

    Cons

Low pay, little mobility for new employees, supervisors could give more support to those who just started. Also slow to bring in people they need

    Advice to Management

    Need to value employees more

    I worked at ALS full-time

    Pros

You work like a slave, still broke and can only pay half your rent. Good Job ALS! Way to stay classy. On a serious note, the benefits aren't terrible.

    Cons

Are you ok with being under paid for hard physical labor? Are you ok with racial slurs? What about employees showing up to work high? Getting hit on? Harassed? Managers telling you that you are stupid? Backstabbing coworkers? Well then congratulations, you have found yourself the perfect place to work. Its a joke really, and if you take a job here you clearly have pretty low standards for yourself. They expect you to work in 110 degree heat with lab coats on, no AC and they think 13.07 is an acceptable wage. Their scheduling is so unpredictable having a life outside of the company is impossible. One day you are on swing, the next they want you on Graveyard. Come December and January get ready for lay offs. They talk about how they don't discriminate or they don't tolerate drug use, harassment etc. However they put up with it all. Never once did they do random drug screens, even when it was obvious people were stoned out of their mind. Everything is always somebody else fault. I honestly don't have a good thing to say about the Reno Lab.If you want job advancements, look somewhere else. Only raise you will get is the COLA ( cost of living act) which is a whole .20 cents.

    Advice to Management

Raquel S. (HR Manager) is a total sweetheart. You can tell she is trying to change the place, but its going to take a lot more than its worth. ALS lab managers/supervisors cant keep telling prep techs how stupid they are when they are on the floor busting their butts day in and day out. Thats not how you keep employees around. I hear the Tucson lab is pretty awesome. You may want to go there if you do decide to take a job with the company.

I have been working at ALS full-time

    Pros

Great company, great benefits, flexible hours, fun co-workers.

They are flexible with your schedule. If you need to come in late or leave early they will let you make up the time instead of using your vacation to cover it. There are times you might have to work a weekend but they are flexible and will often times let you take a week day off. Overtime is there in the summer when they are busy. The winter is a bit slower so there isn't much overtime.

Great benefits package (medical, dental, vision etc), matching percentages for retirement packages, PTO and Vacation time

Co-workers are good people. They know how to pull together as a team and help each other out when needed.

If you work hard, you'll be rewarded, it may take time but as long as your patient good things will come. They are actively working on creating more room for employee growth and advancement.

    Cons

    No cons from my perspective.
