    I worked at ALSTOM full-time

    Pros

The work environment is friendly and supportive. People seem to have a positive attitude about the company and management seems to care about looking after their employees. As an intern, there was plenty of interesting work to be done.

    Cons

The company is very large and seemingly disjointed. There appears to be a distinct disconnect and lack of support from the European headquarters and to its US operations. The gas turbines business does not seem to be very strong.

    Advice to Management

I think that management is doing a great job of making sure the employees have what they need. Innovative projects seem to be well supported. The commissioning team seems to be well supported. I hope that this remains the same in the even of a GE takeover of the heavy duty gas turbines business.

I worked at ALSTOM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pushing and keeping abreast of latest technology on projects based on building and delivering complex mission critical systems to Electric Utilities, Regional Transmission Organization, and Oil/Gas Industry.

    Cons

Typically high percent of deliverables are from base line products. Success of project being managed (priority, schedule, resource, defects remedy from/by R&D...) is too highly dependent on priority set across all projects globally by senior management.

    Advice to Management

Local teams know their customers best. Provision to local teams to maintain long term relationship is essential.

I have been working at ALSTOM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large Company with many benefits and flexible with work location. Alstom Signaling has a firm footprint in Europe and growing in North America.

    Cons

Alstom seems to be so focused on reporting and process that they can move towards a loss in some of their customer centricity and turning a blind eye to employees 60 hour work weeks to try to make up for the time.

    Pros

Work on the latest technologies, have experience with all kind of work level , Software, Telecom, and commissioning

    Cons

because it is a multinational company management and HR change, so you might have experience and work really hard and achieve your goals but the won't know about it and they may not appreciate it

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes, know which Engineer is lazy and which is not, do not treat people the same other wise there won't be a motivation !

    Pros

Interesting products, trains, like a little kid waking up on Xmas morning. International, working with Mgt. From France and sometimes other countries

    Cons

Sometimes too tight lipped. Not a lot of sharing of info amongst the worker bees. Could have more feedback of upcoming projects.

    Advice to Management

Mgrs. seemed fair but need to share share share and trust in your workforce. They are interested in supporting your products and serving the customer base.
