I have been working at AMC Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free movies (when you have the time), soda, and popcorn. Good people as other managers and employees, at least at my location. Perks like pizza parties and cookouts paid for by the company.

    Cons

Wayyyyyy to much work for not enough pay. We're management, customer service, food service, cashiers, accountants, babysitters, we work projection. They take our GM away for week long training sessions, along with makings management travel to other theater's for training every couple of months. Payroll scale for Film Crew is beyond ridiculous. According to payroll, we're always over scheduled but our employees are getting overworked. We don't have enough managers to run the week (making this training sessions hard to cover our theater) but according to AMC, we have too many managers. Those pizza parties and cookouts are nice but would rather have that money for crew payroll. They're adding Feature Fare to my location soon and the took out half of our counters and cabinets to get the food line stuff in.

    Advice to Management

Listen to lower management and Film Crew. Add more payroll hours.

I worked at AMC Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free movies, hires at 15

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage. Barely gives wages, over works you and require you to work weekend and holidays. Always busy. Do yourself a favor and just work at an easier minimum wage job

I worked at AMC Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-working at amc is great if you're a teen or student
-fun working environment which enabled me to form close friendships with coworkers
-free movies (although you can only bring one guest)
    -free popcorn
-easy to pick up skills for the job
-fairly easy to trade shifts with other coworkers

    Cons

-management play favorites and if you're not too great at selling stubs cards they'll treat you differently
    - you HAVE to work Christmas, thanksgiving and New Years with NO time and a half or holiday bonus
-in fact, the company will never pay crew members time and a half because you have to work over 40 hours to get it and they don't allow you to work over 35 a week
    - you only get discounts on food when you're working (nothing is free but the popcorn, but managers don't really care if you put drink in your own cup for free)
-if a movie is popular (75% sold or above) you have to pay to watch it
-management cut hours purposely so they don't have to pay you more than they have to (sometimes even if it's busy)
    - there used to be commission on selling stubs cards but now there isn't (they are trying to do theatre rivalry by giving money to the top seller in a peer group, but it isn't the same as getting 50 cents for every card you sell regardless)

    Advice to Management

It's good to promote stubs sales, but stubs cards are not the only aspect of the job.

The pay for bussers is not worth it
the hours suck if you try to work a night shift

I worked at AMC Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great crew staff. I met a ton of great people while working here.

    Cons

The managers are in your ear all of the time telling you to sell their AMC stubs cars, and they will make you feel like total crap if you don't.

    Sell stubs cards!

The top manager will ignore your inquiries and concerns. Will walk right pass you. One of the many reasons why I resigned.

    Sell stubs cards!

    No serious training.

    Sell stubs cards!

They will deny your time off requests. Your loved ones could be in a horrible car accident, but if you don't find anyone to cover then you still have to show up.

    Sell stubs cards!

    No incentives.

    Sell stubs cards!

No employee of the month, no rewards for selling their silly cards or anything.

    Sell stubs cards!

No staff meetings, just a bunch of papers.

    Sell stubs cards!

They will bother you non stop with sale numbers, but why would you care about that if you're not getting rewarded for it.

    Sell stubs cards!

You will leave the place late, because they don't care if you have to catch a bus or train before it shuts down.

    Advice to Management

Give more to your staff and stop bothering them about how many stubs cards they need to sell.

    Will never work here again!

Free popcorn and movies, fun co workers

    Cons

No discounts on concessions when seeing a movie, only discounts when working, poor management.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better, and maybe the industry would stop dying.
