I worked at AMD as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Access to wealth of knowledge
-Smart people, gain hands on experience with RF equipment
-Decent benefits, pay, good cafeteria, gym

    Cons

-Product driven, so depending on time of the year, expected to put in overtime or whatever to get job done
-For an internship, 16 months is a long time to stick to one job function. Unless theirs a guarantee to get job back, its better to look into multiple small work project to learn more and develop yourself

    Advice to Management

-If there could be an environment that helps fosters discussion and encourages learning for new engineers, this would help immensely in increasing productivity in the long run. And benefits both the company and the employee.

I have been working at AMD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - interesting work
    - flex hours
    - recent efforts to host workplace events that boost employee morale

    Cons

    - management is very inconsistent
    - mid-top level management manly concerned with doing only their job and checking off checklists vs genuinely investing time/effort to develop teams/organizations

    Advice to Management

    - hire managers that understand, live and breath technology to manage people/teams; not just people managers

I worked at AMD as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work is challenging and interesting, but it is all debugging, even the full-timers are honestly only doing debugging. Saw no/little development of actual features during my 4 months.

    Cons

The company is going under and thus everything that is done is compared to NVIDIA in some way or another. The benefits for employees compared to other tech companies is lacking alot. Feel used and underappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Start off by allowing more development opportunities rather than simple bug fixes. It allows individuals to feel like they are actually doing something useful instead of just fixing some obscure edge-case

    Pros

The workplace had a good work atmosphere it also provided a good work life balance. I got to work on interesting projects most of the time.

    Cons

As an intern I did not get very much training, I mostly had to figure things out for myself or just ask someone.

    Advice to Management

The company's strategy seemed to change excessively often while I was there, even tough it was less than two years.
