    I worked at AMD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Great work-life balance
    * Flexible work schedule
    * Smart engineers

    Cons

    * Bureaucratic career advancement (must wait in line for seniority, do this for X years, etc.)
    * As a Sr. Engineer, feels like I'm a cog in a machine
    * Small raises; it pays to job hop if financial compensation is what you're after

    I worked at AMD as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great learning environment. My immediate supervisor was absolutely fantastic. Extremely sharp, fast, always ready to help and teach you new things. I was never afraid to ask even simplest questions. The 9 months I spent there were the most valuable and productive months during my time as a Ph.D. student. Interesting, hands-on research topics.

    Cons

    A little bit stressful environment for anyone who didn't attend top schools (Stanford, CM, Michigan, VTech, etc.). Very competitive place where you sometimes feel like an underachiever and out of your league. Frequent employee changes (many interns) result in a mess in the workflow. Unstable long-term job positions.

    Advice to Management

    Management is good. Keep up the good work. Try to find more stable sources of income to keep employees for longer period of time.

    I worked at AMD as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    higher pay than usual, more than 8 hours is not expected, and people are generally very smart and good at what they do. Most employees come from companies where they've been burnt out or used.

    Cons

    stock price is all over the place, the cafeteria is pretty mediocre, health insurance plans keep getting worse, and AMD has been struggling to find good leadership/vision in recent years. Bonuses are more or less non-existent.

    Advice to Management

    find a CEO that's not just there to hold the reigns until the next CEO takes over. Lisu Su seems pretty good so maybe she's the answer.

    I worked at AMD as a contractor

    Pros

    Good place to work and learn

    Cons

    Nothing much but ppl differentiates themselves as full time and contractors

    Advice to Management

    Please treat all employees and contractors equally
