    I worked at AMK9 as a contractor

    Pros

none whatsoever, time wasters, do not apply

    Cons

I was "hired" by email & phone. All kinds of new employee emails. Was promised (on phone & by email) very basic things commonly found in my line of work. Never got an offer letter despite repeatedly asking for one. Finally received an 18 pg contract that was incredibly one sided in their favor and punitive toward the employee. Not making this up: thousand of dollars in penalties if you leave or get fired. No mention of previously agreed upon benefits. When I asked about the benefits they withdrew offer.

This entire process wasted 3 MONTHS of my life jumping through every one of their hoops because they will not provide an offer letter or terms until you are deeply mired in their crap.

    Advice to Management

Write a fair, honest, decent contract that DOES NOT punish people.

I worked at AMK9 (More than a year)

    Pros

For most people, working as an overseas contractor will pay better than anything comparable in the US. If you're looking to make some money, there are certainly worse ways to do it. The compensation is general sufficient to offset the lack of benefits.

    Cons

Be prepared to be a cog in the wheel. As with most contracting companies, the bottom line is what matters most. And while compensation, at least for overseas employees, can be good, the recruitment can play it up nicer than the reality, so it pays to read the fine print.

    Advice to Management

Communicate, communicate, communicate. And learn to strike a better balance between hewing to the bottom line and paying attention to employee concerns and needs. Happy employees are more productive employees, and a stable workforce reduces company costs over the long run.
