    Pros

It's a great company to get training, and at least it's flexible

    Cons

The worst pay in the industry, it's far considering you can't afford to live near. You have to leave the company and come back in order to advance.

    Advice to Management

Give your good employees better pay and work like balance. You push for OT while management is paid so well they don't have to work as much. Just be fair and understand the salary is not livable

I worked at AMN Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Good training program done by very knowledgable mentors.

    Cons

In recruitment you have to be willing to work over time to meet sales goals and giving up your social life during the weekdays is recommended.

I have been working at AMN Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good but a little expensive, great resume builder, if you don't have a lot of experience in a specific field you can get hired and basic training. Over all get in and get your experience and move on to somewhere else that will pay you more and value your work more. Happy hours and contests with alcohol prizes are abundant....which you will need to survive the work weeks. Lots of opportunities to participate in charity/community events. Company allows you 8 hours of volunteer time however trying to get the time approved to utilize it is almost impossible.

    Cons

work life balance is non existent, pay is way too low for the cost of living expenses in the area and the amount of work/bs you have to deal with on a regular basis. Most departments are over worked and understaffed, and since there is poor planning with staffing it results with hiring any warm body to place on the floor which causes frustration for other team members. majority of leadership is awful- wrong people in the wrong positions and most could care less about their employees. Incestuous work environment-everyone sleeps with everyone in the company so there is always drama, leadership plays favorites and if you try to escalate to senior management or hr they either do not take your concerns seriously or are impossible to schedule time with. If you are sick or want to take pto management makes you feel guilty

    Advice to Management

Be more in tune with your staff and employees. Actually take time to really listen and understand concerns and frustrations. Dont ask your employees to do things you wouldnt be willing to do yourself. Be more available/accessible. Seriously need to take a look at compensation for your staff

I have been working at AMN Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are okay. Pay is decent for California.

    Cons

The environment here is hostile. No one is happy in their role, and they only work because the pay is decent for San Diego. Unfortunately a lot of people have been leaving our company due to their unhappiness. They overwork people and the department is understaffed. They tell us to “figure it out” when it’s not our role and we don’t have the paper. Questions in town halls never get answered, they say they will follow up but don’t. Leadership is terrible. we work in an operations department and they care more about metrics than the quality of the nurses. All of us say we would hate going to a hospital and be treated by a travel nurse. If they focused more on quality, giving us more support, and the bonuses were better people would like coming to work. Other than that, more half of the people on the floor are unhappy. Talked to half of my nurses friends and they said they will never travel with AMN because of their reputation. It’s unfortunate it has gotten to this point but I don’t see things changing until they actually look at the real problem.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your people. You care too much about making sales happy than the quality of the work and quality of life of your employees.

    Pros

I finally understand why the company has a high turnover. Co-workers can be of great assistance. The work hours are flexible.

    Cons

The credentialing department and company lack great leaders. The leaders don’t care about its employees. They pretend to care by doing “office hours” and saying that one can ask them any question.

At least 50% of credentialing analysts are miserable.

No Christmas bonus, low pay, no non-performance based bonuses, only board members matter to Susan and the rest of the AMN executives
