Lack of diversity and horrible work-life balance

Feb 19, 2021 - Project Manager in Downers Grove, IL

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good exposure to the construction industry and many learning opportunities to start a career. Company invests of lot into their employees and puts a lot into training. No lack of responsibility.

      Cons

The company has some major culture and diversity issues. Recent world events have pushed the company to portray an effort to adjust culture standards, create more awareness, and increase diversity, but ultimately leadership's unwillingness to make real adjustments within the company will limit any ability for meaningful change. There is no diversity within the leadership team. Overall there is a general lack of professionalism and respect within the office, culture, and from leadership. There is no effort to prioritize the mental health of employees. Long hours and travel expectations make work life balance almost impossible to maintain.

The office has a boys locker room feel which can be hard on women.
