    Pros

    You get a paycheck. That is about it.

    It used to be a great company.

    Not anymore.

    Socialize with the boss and you will have it made. Nepotism runs rampant.

    Pros

    Level of experience was very deep and mostly thorough engineering.

    Cons

    Senior management could not acquire new business and blew through backlog. Very sad, because the company had great potential in direct foreign business. Absolutely no regard for work-life balance whatsoever.

    Advice to Management

    Too late.

    I worked at ARINC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Learn a new skill, but at a price. There is a new director at this location who is making some positive changes. Good health and dental bennies.

    Cons

    For the responsibilities involved, the pay is not great. The union is practically non-existent. Management (especially in the overcrowded middle level) places themselves and covering their own butts above all else. I got them impression they are constantly looking over your shoulder waiting to pounce. They refused to comply with a medical exemption to certain hours so I had to quit.

    Advice to Management

    Purge some of the top heavy, expensive managers. Treat employees like human beings, and not just income generators.

    I worked at ARINC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The work was challenging and fun. Lots of the contractors were great guys.

    Cons

    Crap schedule. I worked 3-11 and we had maybe 8 people on shift, while day shift had 20 contractors. No way to ever get off of an off shift. Also, while I was there I was looking for other work and was fired once they found out I was looking to go somewhere else. If you must work here, go direct for the company because as a contractor you are treated like crap.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your people better. The high turnover rate is because you treat your workers like slaves instead of people. And don't penalize them by terminating their contracts because they may be looking for other places to work.

    they still pay salaries after the "acquisition" to the half of their staff not YET laid-off but everyone left is "looking"

    they don't pay salaries after the "acquisition" to the half of their staff laid-off even though they were by far the best employees. All that us left is disinterested and empire-protecting Management who have not yet succeeded in jumping ship before the whole ship goes under

    Pros

    Good benefits (health insurance, 401k contribution, etc.). Easy to bond with coworkers since everybody hated their job as much as I did.

    Cons

    Only way to advance is brown-nosing. Limited raise potential. Punitive company culture with limited recognition for accomplishments.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to suggestions made by your employees - even those that have only been there for a short period of time. If turnover is astronomical, it should be a clue that you need to change the way you treat your employees.

    Pros

    I worked with some very nice people, and made a couple of friends that will be friends for life.

    Cons

    the management lies, HR lies, some of the people are just horrid, and oh, by the way, the good old boy network is the ONLY way to move up in the company. If you aren't part of their little clique, forget it. If you are, who cares if you are qualified for the job! Pass over the qualified people, and give the job to the pet. I have never seen such a thing in a large company. In a small family company, sure, you can get away with that, but in a large corporation, there are supposed to be rules against that.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the incompetent managers. Pay attention when problems are brought to your attention - don't fire the people that tell you about it and hope the problem goes away.

    I have been working at ARINC as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice location and still some very good people remain
    Some areas have exciting projects
    Alternate work schedule (AWS) to get every other Friday off
    decent pay for the area

    Cons

    Too many to list......
    cash sucked out by by Carlyle
    morale very low
    too many employees making more than their market value (as new employee you will be frustrated by this)
    everyone in a wait and see approach for what Rockwell Collins will do, so no one working
    AWS abused to the point no work happens on Fridays
    service/products, having had no capital investment the past 6yrs, are suffering.

    Advice to Management

    get out - take your 'parachutes' and go
    give back to the world and stop gaining at the expense of others.

    It's a job, and in this day and age, that's important

    Cons

    Toxic environment where the good old boys are just waiting for the company sale and their chance to cash out. Senior management at this company - if you want to call them that, is a complete clown show. This is the most poorly managed large company I have ever been associated with. Everything has been reduced to money today, and the future and the employees have been mortgaged for the gain of the few at the top. Meanwhile, projects and departments are going to hell and they are trying to hold things together until they can sell the company and unload the shambles of this turd on the next guy. At that point the clean-up and rehabilitation will hopefully begin. Just about anyone worth their salt has left or is trying to leave. My advice would be to stay away until the situation is clearer once the new owner is announced. Then things can get better or worse.

    Move on, you owe your employees better. Let someone come in that actually cares about the people and the future of the business.

    I worked at ARINC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - 70+ year history of corporate pride and accomplishment (except for last several)
    - Career diversity and some great employees still remaining

    Cons

    - Executive management unethical and motivated only by self interest.
    - Catastrophic loss of 10+ year employees last several years and steep decline in business and moral
    - Nepotism throughout upper management
    - Many of the strongest leaders and leadership candidates no longer with company
    - Future unknown as company needs to rebuild from the top down

    Advice to Management

    Retire!
